After being gifted a set of oil paints as a child, John D Wilson fell in love with painting. He is now celebrated for his illusionary 3D wall sculptures.

Featuring outdoor and indoor settings - including a surreal, Dali-style gallery - the collection incorporates a variety of mini-masterpieces from some of history’s greatest artists. This was a huge challenge in itself as I hand-painted each of the 26 miniatures to create exact replicas but in a reverse perspective. I hope three-dimensional is as mesmerising for my collectors to view as it has been for me to create and that it leaves people with a very real sensation that things are not always as they seem!
My new collection has been created through a long-standing fascination with the power of three-dimensional perspective and how it manipulates our visual reference. Three-dimensional art is formed by painting a perspective in reverse; the parts on the canvas farthest from your eyes are the biggest, and the parts closer to your eyes are smaller. As you stand away from the picture, the farthest parts seem to come forward and the forward parts seem to go back reversing the whole picture and giving a 3D effect.
