Jim Clancy Broadcast Journalist, Consultant and Trainer

For over 40 years, Jim Clancy has been a journalist covering the U.S. and the world. His reporting on conflicts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has earned him numerous recognitions for excellence. From 1982 to 1996, Clancy was a CNN international correspondent in the Beirut, Frankfurt, Rome and London bureaus. During this time, he won the George Polk Award for his reporting on the genocide in Rwanda, the DuPont-Columbia Award for coverage of the war in Bosnia, an Emmy Award for reporting on the famine and international intervention in Somalia and the A.H. Boerma Award for his coverage of global food and hunger issues. He has interviewed the “Who’s Who” of our times. Clancy is perhaps best know for the time he spent anchoring CNN newscasts such as “Your World Today” and “The Brief.” His years spent reporting included covering the fall of the Berlin Wall; the Falkland/Malvinas war in Argentina and Chile. Through all of these years Clancy’s interest in Africa continued to develop. Upon returning to the U.S., Jim was instrumental in founding the program “Inside Africa” which focused beyond the headlines of famines or conflicts and instead marked innovation and progress on the continent. It remains CNN’s longest running feature news program. Global issues of rights and freedom drive his long term involvement in the fight against Human Trafficking and modern slavery. He remains focused on journalism in our world today, the safety of journalists in conflict zones and his passion for photography.
