Andrea M. Davis Founder & Producer International Reggae Day
Ms. Andrea M. Davis is the founder and producer of International Reggae Day TM (IRD), an annual 24-hour global celebration of Jamaican music culture. Over the past 35 years, Ms. Davis has contributed to Jamaica's cultural and creative industries in various areas including artiste management, talent bookings, tour management, music-film-tv-literary-photography-event production, brand consultancy, marketing & PR, publishing, intellectual property rights and policy development. As a consultant, Ms. Davis has made invaluable contributions to the foundation and development of policy and legislative frameworks in the areas of cultural and creative industries, copyright and artificial intelligence. Ms. Davis is the co-author of the UNESCO Caribbean AI PolicyRoadmap (2024). She has also authored several other pivotal documents including the ‘Jamaican Entertainment Policy' (Min of Tourism); and the ‘Five YearStrategic Plan for Jamaican Music and Entertainment’(Jampro). Ms. Davis serves as a member of Jamaica’s Copyright Tribunal and authored the 'Jamaican Copyright Term Extension White Paper' (JAMMS) which contributed to the 2015 protection term amendment to 100 years. Ms. Davis has contributed to creative industries and creative economy publications from UNESCO (EU), UCLA (US) and ITAU Cultural (Brazil) and has made numerous presentations on Jamaica’s music and culture at events from Brazil to China, Tanzania to Jamaica, in tandem with the UNDP South by South Unit and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). Her client roster has included Toots & the Maytals, Morgan Heritage, Diana King, Raging Fyah, Jesse Royal and Crueshal Substance as well as Studio One, Bridget Sandals, Issa Trust FoundaAon, L’Acadco, HEART/VTDI, UTECH and she has been integral to national initiatives including Jamaica50, Rise Up (World Cup Reggae Boyz theme song) and the Sounds of JamaicaTM at Midem (1996- 2001). Ms. Davis produced Vice News' "Jamaica for Sale" documentary series, which was nominated for a Jamaica Press Association Award and won a Citation of Excellence from the Overseas Press Club. She is the former co- manager of Toots & the Maytals and an executive producer of ‘Reggae Got Soul: The Story of Toots & the Maytals’ and its Grammy nominated companion acoustic album “Unplugged on Strawberry Hill”. Her event productions include WIPO Caribbean Ministerial MeeAng (2023), An Evening with Michael Bolton 92023), An Evening With Air Supply (2017 | 2019) and Rastafari Rootzfest (2015|2016) and the Sounds of Jamaica Opening Night @ Midem (1997).
