Definitions of key terminology 1. Resource inflows: Resources that enter the organization's infrastructure. 2. Renewable material: Material that is derived from resources that are quickly replenished by ecological cycles or agricultural processes, so that the services provided by these and other linked resources are not endangered and remain available for the next generation 3. Non-renewable material: Resources that are not able to be renewed or replenished on timescales relevant to the economy, i.e., not geological timescales, such as minerals, metals, oil, gas or coal 4. Resource outflows: Resources that leave the organization's infrastructure 5. Waste hierarchy: The waste hierarchy is the following priority order in waste prevention and management: (a) prevention; (b) preparing for re-use; (c) recycling; (d) other recovery, e.g., energy recovery; and (e) disposal. 6. Waste management: The collection, transport, recovery and disposal of waste, including the supervision of such operations and the after- care of disposal sites, and including actions taken as a dealer or broker 7. (Non-) hazardous waste: Hazardous (non-hazardous) waste means waste which displays one or more of the hazardous properties listed in Annex III of the Waste framework directive
