Emperio Armani store event

Successful releases since then have included Origins (2014), Efflorescence (2016) and Symphony (2020). In 2019, he collaborated with Emperio Armani for two shows at their Manchester and Glasgow stores respectively. Stephen adds: “I loved the blend of art and fashion. I got to meet some great people, and it was nice to branch out and do something a little different.” Constant reinvention is important for Stephen, who has painted everything from landscapes to abstract works and florals. He says: “The colours

and textures I choose to use are inspired by all of nature’s elements. Looking at the glowing embers of a fire or a storm at sea will make something just ‘click’ and I’ll be ready to get into the studio.” While his earlier works were created using oils, he now uses a mixture of oil and acrylic paints. Modelling paste is added to the canvas using a palette knife, brush or old rags before he adds the paint and high-gloss resin finish. Finally, he blasts the completed composition with a blowtorch to introduce an incredible luminosity.
