Nigel Humphries “When I saw the very first Star Wars film as a child, I knew that I had seen something special,” Nigel Humphries told us when we spoke to him about this collection. “I loved the characters, the overall design, the good-versus-bad storyline and, of course, the unforgettable soundtrack by John Williams. All of these ingredients blended together to make a film years ahead of its time, and over 40 years later it still stands the test of time.” In creating this collection, Nigel allowed himself to travel back to those remembered wide-eyed moments and recapture the sheer wonder of first seeing the films. His now established concept of creating sets for his figurines calls to mind bygone days of childhood, countless hours rooted in endlessly imaginative play. “For this painting, I decided to have Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in an action pose, ready to do battle. The painting reflects the start of Luke’s journey, and I have represented this in the ripped paper in the background, which shows an X-Wing craft that Luke would later pilot.”
