• Starting off the 842H sire group is Lot 74, who is homozygous black. The dam of this bull, 1929, died this summer from a lightning strike a few weeks before weaning. So, this is her final calf. She was one heck of a tough cow, and one of our favorites, with her calves averaging better than a 102 ratio at weaning, and better still for carcass traits. This bull has shaken off the stress of losing his momma and recovered nicely. He’s got the modest frame size of his Dam, with a long middle, and a strong, flat top.
• This 842H son embodies everything we loved about his sire. He has moderate birthweights, with good growth and excellent carcass traits. He’s long bodied with great flexibility in his hips. This homozygous black yearling is in the top 25% of the breed for TI, the top 20% for MCE and Marbling, and the top 15% for API. His Dam’s calves average better than a 107 ratio at weaning and yearling.
