The Saenger Amusement Company of New Orleans constructed the theatre in 1924, intending to provide live entertainment to the vibrant community of Texarkana. It officially opened its doors to the public on the evening of November 18, 1924, featuring the play Footloose , starring Margaret Anglin and William Faversham. The company enlisted the services of renowned New Orleans architect Emile Weil, who designed the three-story building inspired by Neo- Italian Renaissance architecture, characterized by simplicity on the exterior and opulence within. In 1931, the Paramount-Publix Corporation acquired the Saenger Theatre, subsequently renaming it the Paramount. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, the theatre thrived as a popular venue for motion pictures, drawing large crowds of moviegoers. Until the 1960s, it showcased both live productions and first-run films. However, as television gained popularity, interest in the theatre began to wane. The Paramount transitioned to screening second-and third-rate films before ultimately closing its doors in March 1977. In the same year, the City of Texarkana, Texas, purchased the theatre from S & H Theatre Corporation of New Orleans for $19,000, as part of the Comprehensive Downtown Development Plan. The extensive restoration project totaled $2.4 million. Texarkana natives, H. Ross Perot and his sister Bette generously contributed $800,000 toward the restoration in memory of their parents. In recognition of the Perot family’s contributions, the city council renamed the theatre the Perot Theatre. The grand opening of the restored venue took place on Saturday, May 2, 1981, four years after its acquisition. To date, over one million attendees have enjoyed more than 1,000 events at this historic venue.

Woosley Chiropractic Clinic has been a trusted name in Texarkana for over a century, spanning three generations of dedicated chiropractors. It began in the fall of 1921 when Dr. Homer E. Woosley, known as “H.E.,” opened his practice after graduating from Palmer Chiropractic University in 1919. He first operated in the Texarkana National Bank building before relocating to a freestanding office on Pine Street, where he practiced for 36 years. Through the Great Depression, Dr. H.E. exchanged services for goods and earned the respect of the local medical community— an uncommon achievement at the time. Following in his father’s footsteps, Dr. John D. Woosley, or “J.D.,” graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 1949 and
