T here is something about trees that has always fascinated me. They stand tall through the seasons. They persevere through battering wind, drenching rain, and scorching sun. Leaves fall and limbs break, but still they stand. They stretch toward the sky with deep roots beneath them and an unwavering purpose. And in time, they bloom again. Owning a business feels a lot like that. The rhythm of business is unpredictable. Storms roll in without warning, and droughts linger longer than expected. There are moments when the losses overshadow all the wins and the weight of all the responsibility bends you toward the ground. But trees don’t fight the wind—they move with it. Their roots strengthen in the struggle. A lot of times, their branches stretch instead of snap, and eventually, the season shifts. The air changes, the sun lingers a little longer, and suddenly, new growth appears. Resilience is at the heart of both nature and entrepreneurship. Trees don’t ask permission to grow—they just do. But even the strongest tree does not stand alone. It thrives in a forest, its roots intertwined with others, supported by the surrounding strength. Business works the same way. the mega-company that is now The Arnold Companies, but it had a beginning like all the rest. It started with taking a chance and surviving the droughts. When we had the honor of meeting the Arnolds at the Chamber Celebration, it was a delight. Mrs. Arnold was flawless in every way, and Mr. Arnold had witty comebacks for a couple of our awkward picture pose suggestions. I can see how the two of them, as a team, have been able to accomplish all they have together. In this issue, we have updates and recaps for the 100-Year Hall of Fame. It is so impressive how many Texarkana businesses and organizations have withstood the test of time. It is such an enormous achievement. We also have a story highlighting a local young man getting to live out his dream of working for Dude Perfect. My kids gave me all the details about how cool it must be to work for Dude Perfect and get to be around Tyler and the crew. You will also find our monthly staples, a gorgeous before and after home transformation, and our Locally Owned business profiles. I will say it a million times over… SUPPORT LOCAL! These are the people who support us. We need them. Local businesses make up the essence of every community. And remember, no matter how fierce the season, growth is always on the horizon. With deep roots and the right people around you, blooming again is just a matter of time.
