During open hearings, individuals may come with firm convictions regarding proposals on the current NCWM agenda. Openness to others’ opinions can lead to meaningful growth. Through active listening and thoughtful consideration of alternative perspectives, we often find our understanding deepening, enabling us to see issues in a new light. This process of dialogue and reflection is crucial in finding common ground and building consensus. It fosters mutual respect among our NCWM members, emphasizing that no single perspective holds all the answers. By embracing this collaborative spirit and valuing diverse viewpoints, councils can not only resolve differences but also create solutions that are inclusive and representative of the stakeholders we serve. The Women in Weights and Measures Sub-Committee embraces the name change of our national organization and look forward to the unification of diverse perspectives and mutual understandings.
