Batorer was incorporated on the 21st June 1974. Partners John Irving and Tony Lees had worked alternative nights away from their full time jobs for an engineering company in Halifax before deciding to create their own business. Their first premises were in Stocks Bank Road, Mirfield. A small workshop where their first jobs were machine parts for the new monorail at Flamingo Land in Pickering and brass parts for a Yorkshire supplier of hand pulled beer pumps. By mid-1975 John and Tony were being awarded enough work to leave their jobs and commit everything to Batorer on a full-time basis. They moved to premises at the top end of Ashton Clough Road in Liversedge. The site where their first employees would join them. John Skelton was their first night-shift worker and would remain with the company until 2022 having given 45 years service to the company. Growth continued and by 1985 the business had around 20 employees requiring another move in 1980 to Watergate Mills in Liversedge. Tony Lees became sole owner in 1990 - although John, remained an employee, on and off, for a further 20 years. Batorer moved to its current site - Rawfolds Way, Cleckheaton - in 1994. In 2004 – with the business having grown to 50 employees – a Management buyout took place in the October, with new directors, Martin Dixon, Tony Redfern and Simon Irving taking control, with the help and dedication of shareholders David Whitehead and Richard Hird.
