Delivering the best customer service is a priority for independent family-run builders’ merchant Carryduff Building Supplies. “Customer service is where we differ from many other merchants,” said Andrew Gilliand, Director and son of the founders. “When people order from us, they are quite often talking to myself, my mum Shirley or my brother Richard. We all have a stake in the business, so it’s in our interest to make sure the customer is always happy. “We’re not working to just meet monthly targets, it’s the whole future of the business we’re trying to sustain. If you look at online reviews for Carryduff Building Supplies, you can see that we are getting very positive responses. “We find a lot of our business comes from word-of-mouth recommendations from
happy customers, so I think this approach works for us.” “The Carryduff Building Supplies motto is ‘Small enough to care, large enough to cope’. We have this on the back of all our lorries because, although we are a large independent merchant, no job is too small for us. “We’re happy to deliver one tonne of stones to someone doing their garden. And then on the other hand, we’re supplying sites with hundreds of houses under construction.” The family-owned builders’ merchant also takes a strong interest in charity fund raising. In the past few years, it has held breakfast mornings to support charities such as the Motor Neurone Disease Association, fundraised for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association, and donated to various local causes and charities.
