PROJECT PROFILE

ROE VALLEY INTEGRATED PRIMARY SCHOOL, LIMAVADY

TOBERMORE PULLED OUT ALL THE STOPS TO ENSURE PRODUCTS MET SPECIFICATION AND WERE DELIVERED WITHIN THE DESIRED TIMEFRAME TO ROE VALLEY IPS... FACING BRICKS & PAVING

Seeing its products contribute to the creation of a learning environment was a rewarding experience for Tobermore. Tobermore was asked to supply facing bricks and paving for Roe Valley Integrated Primary School. For paving, the project used Tobermore’s 450x450x50mm Mayfair flags in Silver and 208x173x50mm Sienna blocks in Graphite. Concrete facing bricks have become increasingly popular with contractors due to their availability, uniformity and speed of delivery. This, combined with the seamless support from Tobermore provided at every stage of the project, made them a perfect choice. Tobermore’s Lansdowne facing bricks in Golden and Charcoal were used. Lansdowne facing bricks are tumbled, resulting in an aged, rustic appearance that adds a traditional, warm ambiance to any façade. To guarantee exceptional colour retention and vibrancy through the lifespan of its facing bricks, Tobermore exclusively uses premium iron oxide pigments. An independently verified Environmental

Product Declaration indicates its facing bricks have lower CO2 emissions, generating 290kg versus 453.19kg per 1,000 bricks for clay bricks. Jimmy McMeel, Commercial Sales Manager for Ireland, said, “We employed several special resources and innovative systems to ensure the project’s success. When the initial order fell short of the required quantity, we swiftly facilitated the delivery of additional products to the site, ensuring uninterrupted progress. “Furthermore, to guarantee that our products met the project’s specifications and standards, we provided samples for approval by the project owners. This proactive approach and commitment to customer satisfaction were instrumental in meeting the project’s requirements effectively. “The golden Lansdowne brick, although not a stock product, was a crucial element for the project. However, its availability posed a challenge as it required a slightly longer lead time. “Recognising the urgency of the project’s timeline, we pulled out all the stops to ensure all products were delivered within

the desired timeframe. Our dedication to meeting our customer’s needs enabled us to overcome this challenge successfully.” Constant communication with main contractor Lowry Building & Civil Engineering and merchant MacBlair aided the success of the project. “Seeing our products contribute to the creation of a learning environment was rewarding, knowing that we played a part in enhancing the educational experience for students,” said Jimmy. “Additionally, this project showcased our ability to adapt and innovate, especially when faced with challenges such as lead time constraints for certain products. “Our commitment to customer satisfaction and our proactive approach in addressing any obstacles that arose were key factors in achieving the project’s goals.” Beginning life as a humble sand and gravel business started by the Henderson family in 1942, Tobermore diversified into concrete products in the 1950s, block paving in the 1970s, and is now one of the leading paving and walling manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.
