A SITE VISIT TO TRANSLINK’S FLAGSHIP PROJECT WITH PRINCIPAL CONTRACTOR FARRANS SACYR JV IN BELFAST, AND LOOK AHEAD TO ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE, ARE AMONG THE LATEST NEWS FROM JOINT VENTURE BUILDHEALTH… Site visit looks at challenges of new Grand Central Station
BuildHealth Champions recently participated in an educational site visit to the new Grand Central Station in Belfast, the flagship project of Farrans Sacyr Joint Venture (FS JV). BuildHealth is a joint venture between the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland and the region’s construction industry, aimed at improving the health and safety of its workforce. A contingent from the organisation visited the site at the new station, previously known as the Belfast Transport Hub, on
February 26. BuildHealth Champions visit sites to allow personnel from member companies to see first-hand fellow members’ efforts to raise occupational health standards, and to share best practice. Following an overview of the project by FS JV Project Manager David Bolton, attendees were taken on a site walk by FS JV H&S Manager Brian Hill, who outlined some of the challenges faced by the site team and H&S initiatives introduced during the construction phase.
The visit finished with a round-table discussion on the various health initiatives all members present have put in place in the previous quarter. This open forum discussion allows best practice to be shared with the local workforce and challenges faced are talked through with, in many cases, a positive solution found.
