ALWAYS TRENDY Boho is back, but not like before Trend cycles are an unavoidable part of fashion. This certainly proved to be the case at the recent fashion shows for the upcoming autumn/winter season T he fashion shows held in early spring, in accordance with the fashion calendar, and particularly those of Chloé, for whom Chemena Kamali made her debut as cre- ative director, presented the kind of bo- ho-chic look that hasn’t graced the catwalks for al- most two decades. However, it wasn’t only fashion show happen- ings that testified to this style revival. When Sien- na Miller appeared in front of photojournalists that same day, set to take her place in the front row for the Chloé show, she was sporting a white asymmet- ric dress, rugged leather bomber jacket and platform wedges that made it clear that famous women would also be embracing this trend – immediately! Oh, how unusual it is that we can finally say that a fashion trend has once again emerged on the catwalk, and not on TikTok. It was precisely 20 years ago that Miller was the queen of the boho style – championing festival styl- ings from Glastonbury, soft leather and tassels, maxi skirts and a wide studded leather belt, faded jeans and flowing floral dresses... But Chloé isn’t the only fashion house to have re- vived the free-spirited, uninhibited boho aesthetic. Isabel Marant thought in the same way: it’s as if she delved into her own rich archives of loose and flowing dresses that have marked various periods of her career and selected the best of the best, only to add fringed soft leather tote bags and cowboy boots. A similar feel also dominated the Rabanne show, where flowing dresses were worn over tights with the same motifs. Judging by everything seen, it seems that boho 2.0 is looking to be more sophisticated than in its pre- decessor. Perhaps it’s the influence of “quiet luxury” that dominated the previous seasons – as if the bo- hemian and nonchalant features have gone through some filter of sophistication. Of course, the ultimate question is how well this nostalgia will be "received" on the streets of world metropolises. The good thing about this crazy whirlwind of fashion micro-trends attacking us from social media is that, even if you’re not into the boho-chic revival, some new trend is surely just around the corner.
