ESTABLISHING AN LLC FOR YOUR FAMILY?
INSIDE ISSUE
IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK — IT’S SO MUCH BETTER
There was the time as a teenager I was questioned by the police for throwing eggs off an overpass at oncoming cars.
This is why you want to establish your family’s LLC.
1
Establishing an LLC for Your Family?
You might be thinking: Doug, what does a limited liability company have to do with my kids or grandkids?
And the season when I almost never published my first book.
That’s because I’m not talking about a limited liability company.
2
How to Get Kids to Love Learning?
And the sad day when my wife, Sharee, and I foreclosed on our dream home after financial setbacks during the early 1980s recession. But each of those moments has “another side,” a silver lining where valuable lessons were learned. Like when I discovered the power of owning my mistakes (and no longer going along with teenage hijinks). And when I let go of perfectionism and published that first book, which led to a book deal with Hachette Books and several bestsellers since. And when I resolved to discover better financial strategies that could protect families like mine from otherwise devastating economic storms. WHAT REALLY COUNTS None of us is immune from making mistakes or experiencing setbacks. But it’s what we do with those experiences that counts … not just for our own lives, but for the legacy we leave.
As you know, in the professional world, an LLC is a way of structuring a business that helps its owners guard their assets from frivolous lawsuits through firewalls of protection. In our family, we have a different definition of LLC. It stands for Lifetime Learning Commitment, and it provides somewhat similar protection, but for us it’s from life’s setbacks. A CULTURE OF LEARNING We teach our children and grandchildren to approach life with a never-ending curiosity, to make all their experiences contribute to greater learning. Whenever we have an impactful experience, be it a successful business venture, a professional loss, a health challenge, or a personal breakthrough, we don’t just let it pass us by. We capture the critical takeaways, preparing ourselves for the next time we might encounter something similar. SHARING LIFE’S LESSONS We also take it a step further, and we share it with the family. We deposit that wisdom (I always say wisdom = knowledge + experience) in our Legacy Bank. Let me pause for a moment here to bring those who are new to the 3 Dimensional Wealth community up to speed on the concept of the Legacy Bank.

your family to live with accountability, responsibility, joy, and abundance. It’s about giving your posterity equal opportunity to leverage that Authentic Wealth to improve their lives. QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER Ask yourself a few questions here: • How would your children or grandchildren describe your family’s culture?
Do they feel encouraged to contribute their own life experiences to the family history? Is there a “place” where these stories, values, and lessons are gathered?
It’s also where you keep a copy of your Values & Vision Statement and other important contributions from family members. MAKING DEPOSITS When it comes to putting the LLC concept into everyday practice, our family regularly invites everyone (our 17 grandkids, our adult children, and Sharee and me) to make LLC deposits in our family’s Legacy Bank. On Family Retreats With a Purpose, for example, we have everyone share an I Remember When Story, which we then save in our Legacy Bank files. If someone has a Better Life Circle experience to contribute, we save it in our Legacy
•
WHAT IS THE LEGACY BANK? The Legacy Bank is essentially a repository for your family’s Foundational, Intellectual, and Financial Dimension assets and rules of governance. It’s where you keep a copy of your KASH Blueprint, a working document that outlines how family members can engage with your family’s financial assets (e.g., taking out loans from a family IUL for college, business ventures, etc.).

Do your loved ones have a clear idea of who you are and what you stand for? Do they know your stories of overcoming challenges, facing setbacks, or achieving success? Could they retell funny or charming anecdotes from your life?

HOW TO GET KIDS TO LOVE LEARNING?
IT’S ALL IN WHAT WE SAY AND DO
From the time our kids are infants, we as parents are immediately put in the role of teacher, right? We find ourselves teaching them to walk, to talk, to kick their first ball, to sing the alphabet, to identify colors. Their young minds are hungry, eager, open to everything we and the world have to teach them (except maybe to clean up their toys and go to bed on time!).
forget when our oldest, Ethan, was little, playing his first official summer of soccer. As those short legs ran that field and he scored his first goals, I found myself screaming like some wild, ridiculous parent on the sidelines. I swear the other parents might have thought he broke a world record or something, I was yelling so loudly. But then it hit me. He sees me celebrating his soccer goal. But did I cheer that loudly when he read his first book? Whether it was reading or spelling or playing the piano, I noticed myself cheering the hardest when he was doing something on the field. Harmony and I had a discussion early on, telling ourselves we need to make sure our kids see us cheering for them in the things that are most important in life. For us, that’s been their relationship with God, their involvement in church. It’s been those moments when they’re
setting their goals, and working to achieve them. It’s been how they support their family, cousins, and friends. And it’s how they apply themselves in school. REMINDING THEM WHAT MATTERS So as the good grades have come through, we have celebrated big. And when their motivation has dwindled and the procrastination has kicked in, we’ve talked to them about the value of consistency, of showing up for our responsibilities in life, and of the long- term payoff of education. Whether you’re in the thick of parenting your kids or helping guide your grandkids, I hope we can all remember to cheer them on in what matters most and help them cherish learning. –Emron Andrew
AS THEY GET OLDER But as they continue to grow, their thirst for
knowledge and skills can start to wane. It’s much more fun to play video games, scroll on their phones, or hang out with their friends. It can be tough as parents to keep them motivated to apply themselves in school, to overcome intellectual hurdles, and to embrace a lifelong love of learning. But as my wife, Harmony, and I remind each other (especially with a son in high school), we can’t give up. We can show them in both what we say and do that learning is invaluable to us in our own lives, and that it’s important — and fulfilling — to continually add to our Intellectual Dimension. CHEERING THEM ON It’s also helpful to think about how we encourage our kids in their intellectual endeavors. I’ll never

One of the most important decisions you make when planning a vacation or Family Retreat With a Purpose is where you stay. This is especially true for summer vacations at the beach. Everyone has a different idea of their ideal getaway (Doug and Sharee hold Family Retreats With a Purpose in Hawaii every other year, for example) and where you stay can make or break the trip. Here are a few things to consider before booking your beach rental. ROOM FOR EVERYONE How many people are coming on your trip? Be sure to pick a rental to fit your family’s needs. If your traveling party is small, a condo or apartment overlooking the beach will likely work. If your family is large or you’re worried about the kids being too loud, consider a single-family beach house instead. DISCOVER YOUR IDEAL SEASIDE RETREAT FIND THE PERFECT BEACH RENTAL

my hope that yours will, too. Because life’s too precious to let our hard-won lessons dissipate. Capture them. Cherish them. And capitalizeon them. And be watching for more news this fall, when we’ll be sharing more about a comprehensive new program to help you develop your own Legacy Bank.

THE EXTRAS If you plan to bring your pets, ensure the rental you book is pet-friendly. It’s also worth investigating if the beach itself is dog-friendly, as bringing your furry friend to the beach can make the vacation even more enjoyable. Many rentals also provide beach toys, body boards, and more, so you don’t have to spend money buying or renting them at shops. Read through the rental description, and don’t hesitate to ask the owner any questions. Perhaps it’s understanding how to harness AI in your area of expertise. There is always something new to learn, and rather than avoid it, we can lean into it and gain confidence in unfamiliar subjects. PASS IT ON At 3 Dimensional Wealth, we’ve benefited greatly from professional development, mastermind groups, masterclasses and more. the following?
• Think back to your days in school, which subjects did you excel in? Which did you struggle with? Have you brushed up on any of those subjects since? • What nonfiction books have you read lately? • Which professional/intellectual podcasts do you listen to? • Which professional/intellectual YouTube channels do you follow? • What professional/continuing education courses have you taken lately? • What professional certifications have you completed recently? • Are you participating in any professional mastermind groups? • Do you work with a professional mentor or coach? • Have you been able to help others by sharing your exceptional expertise? If you’re feeling a little shy about your responses, you’re not alone. In the crazy pace of life, it can be tough to focus on our Intellectual Dimension. We want to provide for our families, so we spend considerable time and energy working for our financial needs today and setting aside money for our tomorrows.
It’s critical to strengthen our interpersonal and inner lives, so we focus on our relationships, our health, our talents, etc.
And while all of these financial and foundational assets are worthy of investing in, it can be easy to neglect our intellectual assets, which can leave us imbalanced. WHAT YOUR CLIENTS ARE REALLY LOOKING FOR
By rethinking their services, these CPAs now meet with clients quarterly and schedule a visit before year-end, not just the regular pre-April 15 tax consultation visit. By going from tax-return experts to tax planning specialists, many of them have doubled and even quadrupled their business. Now think about your own business. Beyond sales, marketing, financing, operations, etc., consider your customers/ clients. How can you help them gain more clarity in their lives? Feel more balanced ? Be more focused ? Feel more confident ? When you deliver on those deeper- level needs, their lives are improved by the meaningful transformation you provide, and you can secure a long-term relationship with your customers/clients. Of course, there’s also the profound satisfaction you’ll feel for making a difference in their lives.
GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT—THEY’LL KEEP COMING BACK
As entrepreneurs, we’re often asked by clients to share business strategies — many of which are captured in Doug’s book, “The 10 Keys Transformation.” Here we share some of those insights with professionals in our 3 Dimensional Wealth community.
Look at your competitive landscape. Chances are, you’re not the only one providing the type of services or products your business offers. What can you do to differentiate your company? How can you keep your customers/clients coming back? The key is to provide your customers/ clients a truly meaningful transformation. And one of the best ways to do that? Provide greater clarity , balance , focus , and confidence for your clients. While it might seem simplistic, that’s essentially what everyone really wants: Someone or something to help them improve how they feel about themselves and/or experience life. So what does this look like in professional terms? SUPPORT LONG-TERM SUCCESS By way of example, Doug coached a mortgage professional who had been targeting clients who wanted a one-time new home loan or refinance. Doug helped Our knees, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and hips are integral parts of our bodies — all joints connecting our bones. After years of pressure plus wear and tear on our joints, they risk wearing down and developing conditions such as osteoarthritis, a common degenerative joint disease seen in older adults. However, aging isn’t the only thing that can adversely affect our joints. Sometimes, overuse of a particular joint can cause pain, discomfort, and eventually limited mobility. Here are four tips to incorporate into your daily routine to keep your joints healthy, lubricated, and mobile. SAFEGUARD YOUR MOVEMENT FOR YEARS TO COME HEALTHY JOINTS MATTER
him go from thinking of himself as a mortgage loan originator to a mortgage planning specialist. As he reimagined his strategy, the mortgage professional went from the one-off approach to a long- term relationship with clients, scheduling regular reviews every three to five years. During these reviews, his team could help clients see if the timing was right to refinance their property and free up money for other financial goals. They became the go-to source for helping clients optimize their assets and minimize taxes. OPTIMIZE THEIR LIVES Doug has also helped many CPAs transform their businesses by going from a retrospective approach — showing clients at the end of the tax year where their money was spent — to a proactive approach — regularly forecasting where clients were headed and helping them optimize assets and minimize taxes. SIT UP STRAIGHT Did you know your posture plays a significant role in the health of your joints? Standing and sitting up straight helps reduce unnecessary pressure on any part of your body and protects your back, hips, knees, shoulders, and neck. It also helps to prevent injury to the surrounding muscles. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY WEIGHT If you become overweight, you’ll inevitably slow down and move less. The extra weight will also place more strain and pressure on your joints, mainly your knees, ankles, and hips, increasing your risk of joint damage and complications. GET MOVING Staying active and building strong muscles and bones provides the stability and support your joints need to thrive. exercises (Doug and Sharee like hiking, playing outdoor family games, and spending time at the gym) to strengthen your joints and keep them in optimal shape. Remember, the more you move, the easier it becomes. PRACTICE SAFETY FIRST When performing activities that may place more demand on your joints, rely on padding and protection. For example, wear knee and wrist pads if you go roller skating or ice skating! If your wrist is sore or injured, a brace will protect it and provide the support it needs to heal. Even if you’re gardening outside and kneeling often, be sure to kneel on a soft pad or area to safeguard your knees. Protection is always key! Maintaining a safe and active lifestyle is the key to keeping your joints healthy for years to come. Take care of your joints now so they can care for you — no matter your age!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER Create the Perfect Stargazing Experience
Many children are fascinated by the mystery and beauty of outer space, but most of us lose that reverence as we get older. That doesn’t have to be the case! A night of stargazing is the perfect way to bond with your kids or grandkids and let your inner child loose. You can bring a free telescope if your local library has a Library of Things program. These game- changing programs offer toys and tools for checkout — telescopes included. That said, creating a family stargazing tradition to enhance your Foundational Dimension isn’t as simple as stepping outside and looking up. Here are some tips to make the most of your astrological adventure. PICK THE RIGHT NIGHT Would-be stargazers must consider the weather and cloud cover. Further, the light from the moon can wash out the dimmer
sparkle of distant stars, and it’s best to go during or immediately before or after a new moon phase. If this sounds complicated, make it easier with a forecasting site like GoodToStargaze.com . It will provide all the technical details and a simple “yes” or “no” verdict on the evening. FIND THE IDEAL SPOT Those who live in rural areas without much light pollution won’t have to go far to see the stars, but everyone else should do a little planning. Scope out a location away from city lights that has an unobstructed view of the sky, and make sure it’s legal for you to go there. You’ll also need a place to set up blankets or chairs for a comfortable and relaxed experience. BRING ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES After so much planning, the last thing you want is to be run off by a chilly breeze or some pesky mosquitoes. The summer
night in an open space may be cooler than expected, so bring a sweater or jacket. Ensure your clothing and seating are comfortable, and don’t forget bug spray. It’s also wise to pack some snacks and plenty of water. Further, you can step up your game by bringing binoculars or a star map. Just remember, leave nothing behind so the next amateur astrologists can enjoy their experience as much as you did.
two halves, with each team occupying one half and facing the other and a goal line at the back of each side. Players take turns throwing the discs at the other team, who must stand still until the disc leaves the thrower’s hand. The throwing team is awarded a point if the disc strikes a player or crosses the goal line. The first team to score 21 points wins. FRICKET Fricket is a two-on-two sport often called the cricket of disc sports. Start by getting four 5-foot wickets made from plastic or bamboo. Place two side by side, about 15 inches apart, and then place the other two 40 yards away. Place red Solo cups on top of the wickets, and that’s all the setup you need! Disc golf has exploded in popularity during the past few years. The Professional Disc Golf Association reports more than 7,000 disc golf courses in the United States. It’s inexpensive, fun, and an excellent way to strengthen your Foundational Dimension by improving your health. But disc golf isn’t the only sport with those benefits involving Frisbees! Here are a few other entertaining options to try with your family. By attempting something new together, you can create lifelong memories. GUTS Dodgeball is one of the most exciting games many can remember from our youth. There’s nothing more exhilarating than hitting someone with a ball and getting the final out. Guts is similar to dodgeball, with some slight differences. The court is split into FLY, DISC, FLY Lesser-Known Disc Sports to Try This Summer
on the ground or your disc passes between the wickets without touching them. If the opposing team catches your throw one-handed, they get a point. The first team to 21 points wins. DISC DOG There are many disc sports involving man’s best friend. Toss and Fetch requires the owner to throw as many discs as possible for their dog to catch in 60 seconds. Freestyle competitions are choreographed performances that last over a minute. And long- distance events showcase the thrower’s arm and the dog’s speed. Participating in these events takes a lot of training, but they are incredibly entertaining to watch and a great way to bond with your dog.

WHEN THE SHARKS ARE CIRCLING
Throw Yourself a Financial Lifeline
Whether you’re in your 30s or 60s, the countdown to retirement is ticking away. As a member of the 3 Dimensional Wealth community, you’re likely working to establish a solid plan for your financial future.
If you’re like millions of Americans, you've incorporated the popular 401(k) plan as part of your strategy. With its employer contributions adding momentum to your savings, it can be a worthwhile vehicle. However, if you’re like approximately 35% of retirement plan holders — relying on it as your primary nest egg — it’s important to know there are dangers beneath the surface with traditional accounts like 401(k)s. Just like sharks springing from the depths, market volatility can catch you off guard at the wrong moment, causing significant losses to your traditional accounts, perhaps when you need it the most. ROUGH WATERS AHEAD According to the Federal Reserve, it's inevitable that we'll face yet another economic downturn in the coming months. With your 401(k) exposing your money to market declines, your account value could suffer significant losses when the economy takes a hit. This unfortunate reality might force you to seek new job opportunities or extend your working years just to keep your retirement savings afloat. With another recession circling in the distance, you need to do what you can to safeguard your future. This is why we advise so many of our clients to get their money out of hazardous waters and onto the safer shores. THE VALUE OF SAFETY Many have taken the plunge and repositioned their money out of traditional accounts like 401(k)s and IRAs with a strategic rollout, moving their serious cash to properly structured, maximum-funded Indexed Universal Life policies, or what we call IUL LASER Funds.
market upturns, watching your policy’s cash value increase with tax-free accumulation.
And when the market goes down (like it’s predicted to do soon), your cash value is protected by a 0% guaranteed floor. You won’t lose a dime due to market volatility. Does this mean you should never have a 401(k)? Absolutely not. As we mentioned, with employer contributions, 401(k)s can be a valuable part of your overall financial portfolio. But you want to put more of your money to work in a financial vehicle that can provide safety from market downturns, along with liquidity, predictable rates of return, and significant tax advantages. INFORMED CHOICES By making strategic choices, you can insulate yourself from the downturns of the economy, ensuring the safety and stability of your retirement. That way, when your retirement day finally arrives, you can enjoy it with peace of mind, accessing retirement income tax-free, and passing along your money income-tax-free to your family when you ultimately pass away.
