has a network of walkways and pipe supports to carry the services required for a refrigerated and insulated building. The lighting system in the facility will consist of LED lighting throughout with a DALI intelligent lighting system with motion sensors and timers on all lighting. A heat recovery system is being installed to harvest heat from the refrigeration system to heat water used in the crate wash facility. A 3 MW rooftop solar installation is being installed and will consist of 5 500 PV modules and will produce approximately 4 781 000 kWh of electricity. This will ensure that the facility’s base load is powered with solar power. Rainwater is being harvested via an enlarged attenuation pond, treated and stored in a 1m litre underground tank for use in the ablution facilities and for the refrigeration system. The water used in the truck wash facility will be recycled and treated to wash trucks. Waterless urinals, aerated faucets and low water use sanitary fixtures will minimise water usage on site. Health & safety is always a top priority on any project and WBHO has implemented a strict induction and audit system for all subcontractors engaged on the project. To date in excess of 1 500 000 man hours have been worked on the project with an LTIFR of zero. The project recently entered and won both the 2022 Regional and National safety competitions for projects valued over R750m run by the Master Builders Association. The project commenced with bulk earthworks in May 2021 with overall construction completion expected in the first quarter of 2023. WBHO commence with building work on site on 17 September 2021 and the project is on track for completion within 15 months. Variations added to the contract include an enlarged attenuation pond to add
