the western side of the site. The site is divided into a series of stepped terraces to simplify issues related to the infrastructure of the housing units. Multi-level row house type units straddle the level changes of the terraces, thus facilitating a street relationship on both levels. Along the terraces the row-house units are placed hard up on one another and create a continuous, flowing street façade. This interface supports the safe passage of pedestrians. A secondary street grid caters for people-active, intimately scaled
streets (public), with the introduction of parked courts (semi-private), where cars would predominately park. A total of 108 housing opportunities were developed for returning District Six residents, made up of 48 row houses (18 Type A and 30 Type B) and 60 apartments in 10 blocks of six each.
