PACK EXPO Las Vegas Positioned To Break Records With little more than a year to go, the 2017 install- ment of PACK EXPO Las Vegas and Healthcare Pack- aging EXPO, being held September 25–27, in Las Vegas, Nevada, is reportedly positioned to surpass its 2015 numbers, according to PACK EXPO producer, PMMI,The Association for the Packaging and Process- ing Technologies. At the completion of exhibitor booth selection, PACK EXPO Las Vegas is up 10 percent with nearly 700,000 net square feet sold and Healthcare Pack- aging EXPO is up 20 percent, compared to this same number of weeks out in 2015.The show is ex- pected to be a sold-out event with 2,000+ exhibit- ing companies. According to 2015 show statistics, 86 percent of at- tendees recommend, influence or make the final buy- ing decision in the purchasing process. FTA Calls For Entries For Technical Innovation Awards The Flexographic Technical Association announced the 2017 Technical Innovation Award competition is
open for entries. Applicants can submit entries now through February 10, 2017. The annual competition serves as the global stage for innovation to honor outstanding new ad- vancements in technologies, products and process- es that optimize and advance the f lexographic printing process. Throughout its history, the competition has induct- ed nearly 30 companies into its roster of innovators. Winning technology has spanned everything from both narrow web and wide web printing presses to automatic platemaking devices to RFID tags to proof- ing and color analysis software. Entries are evaluated by a panel of industry experts well versed in current best practices, tools and methodologies. Each entry is placed into one of three categories: Prepress-Graphics, Prepress-Press- room and Heavy Converting Equipment. From there the entries are judged and scored in six specific areas: Description of Technology; Technical Achieve- ment; Technical Impact on the Industry’s Future; Supporting Material; User Testimonials; and Presenta- tion of Submission. Winners will be announced Sunday, April 30 in Phoenix,Arizona, during FTA’s annual Awards Banquet.
