GEMÜ filling valves, also with regulating cone, are now available for even more precise dos- ing in filling processes. Due to the constantly increasing varieties of beverages, liquid foodstuffs and pharma- ceuticals, the filling process in the foodstuffs and pharmaceutical industries requires a huge variety of customised solutions. For this reason, GEMÜ is now offering the GEMÜ F40 and F60 servoDrive filling valves, which also come with a regulating cone. This allows batch quantities of liquid, viscous and gaseous me- dia to be batched more precisely, particularly for small volumes. These GEMÜ filling valves are equipped with an innovative PD design and are impres -
sive with respect to their speed, flexibility, resistance and precision. GEMÜ F40 and F60 servoDrive filling valves are available in nominal sizes from DN 8 to DN 25 with spigot or clamp connec - tions according to DIN or ASME BPE. In ad - dition to the investment casting valve bodies available to date, block material bodies are now also available, which can be electropo- lished upon request. The GEMÜ Group develops and manufac- tures valves, measurement and control systems for controlling liquid, vapour and gas and is a global market leader when it comes to solutions for sterile applications.
BMG opens a new branch in Maun, Botswana
as possible following a breakdown. According to BMG specialists, the introduction of a struc- tured maintenance management programme is critical to maximising production efficiencies. By providing engineering solutions and tech- nical services that optimise productivity, BMG ensures that its product and service offering enhances the efficiencies of every plant. bmgworld.net
“BMG now has two dedicated branches in Botswana – one in Gaborone, which was established in 1998 to service and supply the southern part of the country and a new branch in Maun, which supports the northern region of Botswana,” says Hein Ries, BMG’s Maun branch manager. “The BMG Botswana team plays an integral role in optimising the pro- ductivity and operations of customers in all sectors in Botswana. These industries include mining, agriculture, automotive, food and bev- erage, as well as construction, manufacturing and repairs. “Our team works closely with customers to investigate the source of prob- lems and provide cost-effective solutions for extended service life of systems and minimal maintenance requirements. “Apart from the supply of a broad range of quality branded engineering products, en-
hanced by technical skills, BMG’s two Botswana branches offer original spares and advanced workshop resources that ensure all repairs meet pristine OEM standards.” BMG’s services include mobile breakdown, repair and maintenance support to enable pro- duction plants to be up and running as quickly
BMG has extended its service in Botswana with the opening of a new branch in Maun to support the northern region.
Mini-subs and dry-type transformers for motor plant Solutions. The units, for a motor plant near Pretoria, were custom designed and manu- factured to the exacting requirements of the electrical consultants on the project, accord- ing to David Claassen, managing director of Trafo Power Solutions.
laborate positively with consultants and contractors in high pressure contracts like this one,” he says. “This allowed us to achieve the required designs within the strict schedules, so the end result would be fit-for-purpose and delivered on time. “Like the rest of the world, South Africa has faced various freight challenges since the outbreak of the pandemic, but our innovative strategies ensured that shipping and customs arrangements were closely managed so we could land the equipment as needed,” he says. The air-cooled format of the dry-type transformers offers the new motor manu- facturing facilities an environmental benefit insofar as there is no risk of oil leaks. The units are also low maintenance and have a high safety rating due to minimal explosion risk. www.trafo.co.za
“Working closely with our customer to finalise the design specifications, as well as with our manufacturing partner TMC Transformers in Italy, we were able to meet the tight turnaround times,” says Claassen. He highlights that each of the transform- ers was required to meet particular design challenges. With the six 3 150 kVA units and the 4.0 MVA unit, for instance, fault levels had to be kept to a certain predetermined maxi - mum, while the two 1 600 kVA units had to withstand a relatively high harmonic content. “One of our strengths is being able to col-

An important expansion to South Africa’s automotive industry is benefitting from the installation of 10 dry-type transformers and two mini-substations supplied by Trafo Power
