My love of real estate encouraged me to over- come these feelings and build the best connections to elevate my status.” Who do you feel was most influential in your lifewhen choosing this profession? “Steve Guttman; David Rosenburg, CEO of Boldwa- ter Holdings LLC; Douglas Jemal, founder of Douglas De- velopment Corporation; C.C. Dudley, president of Dudley

Pro Realty. They all helped pave the path that led me to where I am today.” What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young executive graduat- ing from college today? “Immediate success is only achievable by hitting the lot- tery and your odds of doing so are very slim. Your best bet is to be coachable and surround yourself with successful people who uplift you. If you’re the smartest person in your group, find a smarter group!” MAREJ

“I was inducted into Marcus & Millichap’s SIA, an associa- tion of the company’s most elite brokers, in my fourth year of practicing commercial real estate. It usually takes at least six years of work to achieve the honor, but I did it in four.” What is your most notable project, deal or transaction? “I can’t pinpoint an exact transaction, but I will say that I’ve been very fortunate to work with some of the most prominent real estate families in the East. Utilizing Marcus &Millichap’s national platform to coordinate their deals not only grew their wealth, but it also brought record-breaking amounts of money into the marketplace.” How do you contribute to your company and/or the industry? “I’ve worked diligently to introduce the commercial real estate industry to minorities. I attribute Marcus & Millichap DC’s status as the company’s most diverse office largely to my efforts.” Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current position and why you chose the field/ profession you are in today? “Steve Guttman, the former CEO of Federal Realty Invest- ment Trust was my client when I was a personal trainer in 1999. He was the first to recog - nize my potential as a commer- cial real estate agent and would often use his training sessions to teach me about the industry, so I was getting paid to learn! Guttman helped me get hired at Marcus & Millichap’s D.C. office after I earned my real estate license. I saw the value in the mul- tifamily properties of class C ‘east of the river’ locations, like Anacostia and Congress Heights, and became the first broker of any commercial real estate firm to make sales in these locations.” What unique qualities and or personality do you feel makes you most successful in your profession? “I approach my clients with integrity and humility.
