Board of Trustees Agenda May 14 and 15

the university which in turn is their opportunity to overcome the cycles of generational poverty and concentrated disadvantage. Successful university students become productive and active alumni. Law and Justice alumni provide scholarship dollars, internship placements, departmental guidance, and research access. We can only assume alumni of other departments are doing the same. We have observed that it is often those students who had the most to gain from their university experience who become the most productive and active alumni. Those alumni who were the first in their family to earn a college degree are often the same alumni who come back to campus looking to give back in any way they can. We cannot ignore the fact that these students are also the ones who are most in need of the resources provided by APOYO while they are working to accomplish what might have been impossible for their parents. In closing, please consider what we have offered here when making your decisions regarding the longevity of APOYO. Sincerely,

Roger L. Schaefer, Ph.D
