Dear ZERO Summit Attendees,
Welcome to the 2024 ZERO Prostate Cancer Advocacy Summit! I’m thrilled to be here alongside all of you passionate advocates as we come together to advance our mission to end prostate cancer for all who are impacted. With prostate cancer diagnoses on the rise, your voices are needed more than ever. People at risk, fellow prostate cancer patients, and their families and loved ones are depending on us to be bolder and make an even bigger impact. In 2024, an estimated 299,010 men will be diagnosed, and 35,250 will die from the disease. Additionally, this disease continues to plague our Black fathers, brothers, family, and friends at higher rates, with Black men being nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed and die from prostate cancer. You and I know these statistics are unacceptable. Breaking down barriers to screening is critical in addressing health inequities and this is our top priority across all our meetings on Capitol Hill this week. We need to eliminate out-of-pocket screening costs for men who are at the highest risk of prostate cancer. With new momentum for the PSA for HIM Act, this could be one of the most important years for our cause to make early detection more accessible for all, especially those who need it most.
