Main Causes of Food Poisoning Though you can't see where the germs that cause food poisoning might be lurking, you can take steps to prevent being exposed to them. Below are the main causes of Food Poisonings:

Food being prepared too far in advance and stored at a warm temperature (danger zone 5 °- 63° C).

Food being cooled too slowly before being refrigerated.

Food being undercooked i.e. core temperature below 63° C.
