Care Volunteer Training

Infection Control Infection control is the action we take to prevent the spread of infection. At Acorns we have a real focus on this because of the risk to our children who have health related vulnerabilities. It is also important we keep ourselves and visitors safe and well. The below diagram illustrates the chain of infection.

For infections to grow and pass on, six things need to be in place. These make up the links in the chain of infection. If we break the link, we can stop the infection spreading.

If we remove any of the links to the chain of infection, we significantly reduce the risk of people becoming unwell.

On the following page we will examine each of the 6 chains in more detail.
