But this verse says, “by His life.” Now this doesn’t mean by copying Him and trying to live up to His THE SICK GOOSE A stingy old woman was hatching some geese. And prayed again and again, "Now, Lord, I promise to give you one goose. If you will give me ten." Well, sure enough He answered her prayer. And ere her praying did cease, She looked one morning and there in joy She found her ten little geese. But one was crippled, she sadly saw, And gave hSr head a quick nod. "I promised one to our Father above, That's the one I'll give to God." The nine lively geese all thrived and grew, But the tenth, it's sad to say, Grew weaker and weaker and weaker until It finally . . . passed . . . away. The' stingy old woman didn't seem to mind (You'd think that she really would): But in her heart, — that selfish old heart. She felt that she'd done all she should. She talked to God and here's what she said, "I'm sorry, dear Lord, but I tried. For the goose that I gave you,— well, you know That goose, I'm sorry it died!" How many of us, I wonder, ■Give God "crippled geese" every day? The gifts which no one else would want. Things we'd just throw away? He wants the love which prompts our best, He's worthy of all we can give; Don't be like the stingy old woman, Give a "goose" that is going to live! standard. That is not possible, of course. In the Amplified New Testa ment, we have, “Much more being reconciled, we shall be daily deliv ered from sin’s dominion by His res

urrection life.” You see, this puts it in the correct tense, “daily delivered.” If you are a child of God, then Jesus Christ lives in you through the per son of His Holy Spirit. Romans 8:9 declares, “If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, then he is none of his.” This divine abode is primarily for one purpose, and that is that you might be daily delivered from sin’s dominion. Do you recognize this fact? If only you will, then you can say, “Lord Jesus, this is so wonderful, You live in my heart, not just to be a pass ing experience, not just to be a badge on my coat, or a motto on the wall of my house, but to be my life day by day.” How wonderful to say, “Lord Jesus, this is the situation, or the fear. I can’t meet it, but I know that You can. I rest my soul in You.” Jesus Christ can do something won derful for you today. If you are in fear over an oppressing problem, let Jesus Christ help you. If you have never trusted Him as your Saviour do so now. If you have been saved, but the pressures are driving you down, remember He can deliver you day by day and moment by moment. This can be your joyous experience today. Why not come to the Saviour who handles the present as well as the past and the future. * * * Life is not a matter of cross purposes but it is rather bearing a cross with a purpose. * * * Men do not need a new leaf, they need a new life. * * * No tears for the lost will mean no rain bows for the soul. * * * One of the devil's cunning wiles is just to tell you to wait a while. * * * Life's greatest tragedy is to lose God and not even miss Him. * * * You may have God but the real ques tion to ask is, "Does God have you?" * * * Don't spend the last half of your life regretting the first half. 32
