Biola Broadcaster - 1964-09

You may be asking, “Mr. Duma- ran, why did you choose Biola Col lege as your school of resident study and further training in the United States?” My answer is simple. I did not make this choice; God chose for me. While there are very many Christian schools and colleges in America offering many good oppor tunities to foreign students, I know God worked it out in His own won derful way that I should enjoy His blessings channeled through Biola College. Also factually we note that Biola College ranks among the high est in Christian standard of life and scholastic instruction. I shall there fore happily consider my opportu nity with Biola College as a gift from God which has no need of re gret and repentance. May God rich ly bless this great institution and all her leaders and sponsors. During these few weeks of wait ing, aside from securing our clear ances and pertinent papers for travel, we shall be attending to the Orphan Choir Tour of the Mercy- ville wards; conduct a full week of city-wide crusade in Davao City using the Cebuano dialect; visit churches for revival meetings; and minister to young people in a Youth Camp. As I look forward to the days of further training and experi ence in Biola College, my heart is thrilled within me. I envision those days to be beautiful and refreshing, God has no larger field for the man who is nof faithfully ploughing where he now is. * * * No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar. * * * Tact is the ability to win a point without losing a friend and making an enemy. * * * A good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you have said. * * * If may be that money can buy amuse ment but it will never be able to purchase happiness.

profitable and rewarding. Looking beyond those days of learning, I see new horizons of service which even tually will spark the blazing of new trails and approaches to a richer and fuller Christian ministry. Indeed PRAYER ON THE "Q.T." Now I sit me down to school Where praying is against the rule, For this great nation under God Finds public mention of Him odd. Any prayer a class recites Now violates the Bill of Rights. Any time my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now! Teach us of stars or pole and equator But make no mention of their Creator. Tell of exports in Denmark and Swe den But not one word of what Eve did in Eden. The law is specific, the law is precise Praying out loud is no longer nice. Praying out loud in a public hall, Upsets believers in nothing at all. So all that I ask is a minute of quiet If I feel like praying, then maybe I'll try it. If not, O Lord, this plea I make: Should I die in school, my soul you'll take. we are greatly amazed at what the future holds for us, but how pre cious and consoling it is to know Him who holds our future! Dearly beloved, there is much to do, but we have so little time. Today many doors of opportunities are swinging open, but equally many are the doors that close forever. In deed the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Ah, beloved, in the light of these general facts that stagger all our missionary senses, what shall we do? Let us “be steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as we know that our labor is not in vain in the Lord.” Let us “redeem the time” for the good days are hastening away. God bless you richly as you ponder on these tre mendous tasks before us today. 35
