Ways to Purchase IN PERSON: Enjoy a day from year’s gone by. The auctioneer’s cry creates an exciting, fun event. Auction officials will assist you with this process. PROXY: If you are unable to attend but want to participate, you can do so by proxy. Contact a member of the Auction Committee and they will help facilitate it. ADD ON : If you are unable to purchase an animal you can add money to each exhibitor. Add on can be done through website: https://annual.alamedacountyfair.com/jr-livestock-auction How to Make a Purchase ON SALE DAY: Register with sales table when you arrive or use the Pre-Registration Form (attached) to register early. Get your buyer number. When you wish to place a bid on an animal, raise your hand until the ring-man acknowledges your bid. The highest bidder is the buyer. Your name (or your company’s name) will be displayed on the illuminated marquee and in the next year’s sales catalogue.
How to pay for your Purchase CHECK: Make your checks payable to Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction. CREDIT CARD: Credit cards are handled professionally by our auction team who is headed by a Certified Public Accountant. CASH: Cash is accepted.
PAYMENT IS DUE THE DAY OF THE SALE
Uses for your purchase PERSONAL USE: Put the top-quality wrapped pork, beef, lamb or goat in your freezer to enjoy year-round. If a whole animal is too much, split it with family and friends. SPLIT BUYING: Two or more individuals, families, businesses, or organizations split the cost. This reduces the cost to any one person or group and reduces the amount of meat each will receive. Notify the auctioneer of the combination of bidders when bidding. BUSINESS: Present packaged meat to your customers, host a BBQ for employees, auction wrapped meat as a fundraiser, or serve quality meat in your restaurant or market. BUY BACK: Buyers not wanting to keep their purchased animal pay only the difference between the final bid price and resale value based on the market price. CHARITY: Buy for a local charity or non-profit organization. You get the benefit of supporting your favorite charity and you get the promotion for your business.
Yield SWINE: 210 to 280 pounds live. Cut and wrapped yield of 105 to 135 pounds of processed meat consisting of: 2-4 Shoulder Roasts OR 8 Shoulder Steaks OR 2 Shoulder Roasts and 2 Spareribs, 28 Pork Chops OR 1 Loin Roast and 17 Pork Chops, 2 Hams, 20 pounds of Sausage, and Bacon. BEEF: 1000 to 1350 pounds live. Cut and wrapped average yield of 600 to 800 pounds of processed meat consisting of: 8 T-Bone Steaks, 8 Porterhouse Steaks, 2-3 Filets, 8-10 Top Sirloins, 8-10 Sirloin Tips, 8-10 Rounds of Eye-of-Round Roast, 8-10 Rib Eye Roasts, 8-10 Chuck Steaks 8 Flank Steaks, 1 Brisket, 2 Chuck Roasts, 2 0-Bone Roasts, 2 Short Ribs, 2 Tri Tips, and 60 pounds of Ground Beef. LAMB: 100 to 160 pounds live. Cut and wrapped average yield of 55 to 86 pounds of processed meat consisting of: 2 Legs of Lamb, 1 Rack & 12 rib chops, 12 loin chops, 8 shoulder chops, 2 shanks, 10 lbs. ground/stew meat. GOAT: 60 to 120 pounds live. Cut and wrapped average yield of 30 to 60 pounds of processed meat consisting of: 4 Steaks, 20 Chops, 3 pounds Stew Meat, 2 Leg Roasts, and Spareribs.
Junior Livestock Auction Boosters If you are unsure of which exhibitors you would like to support, you can contribute to the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction Boosters fund. This fund supports those exhibitors who were less fortunate in the sale of their animal by supplementing their sale with an add-on. After all sale and add-on contributions have been applied, the Boosters will select qualified recipients (those exhibitors with the lowest auction total). Donations may be mailed (address below) or can be submitted online (Boosters’ website below). Boosters is a 501 © (3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
