In some places in South Africa, the parents of the bride and groom bring fire from their own fireplaces to the home of the newlyweds. The couple uses the flames to light their own fire. It’s a privilege to dance with the bride, so much so that, in Cuba, guests pin money to the bride’s dress to secure a special dance. This is used to pay for the wedding and honeymoon. Although this might come naturally, a month before the wedding, a Tujia bride starts practicing crying for one hour. Ten days later, the bride is joined by her mother, and then, 10 days later, the grandmother joins them.
