jessica bramer had just started teaching speech and theatre at John Marshall High School when she met TJ Romick. Their friendship started when TJ invited her to eat lunch with the other teachers and a romance began when he built a set for Jess’s students’ production of “Fame.” Ten years after first meeting, and after their annual New Year’s Eve Wheeling Nailers Hockey, TJ surprised Jess by popping the question. Jess, from Clarksburg, and TJ, fromWheeling, knew they wanted to celebrate big with family and friends. A July 2020 wedding was planned but the pandemic got in the way. Jess and TJ decided to keep their original date, and went to Pittsburgh, the couple’s favorite city, to elope with only their parents present. Exactly one year later on July 17, 2021 the couple had their big dream celebration with friends and family at Oglebay inWheeling. During the ceremony, Jess wore a strapless tea-length ivory gown with a rhinestone belt and Blue by Betsey Johnson open-toed, ivory heels with a rhinestone bow on the back. She traded the heels for a custom pair of Converse sneakers for the reception. The groom wore gray pants, a black shirt, and a grey pinstripe vest with a dark-grey tie featuring tiny skulls and crossbones. The bridesmaids wore gray and carried three-flower bouquets showing off the bride’s accent colors. All members of the bride’s family wore Wonder Woman angel charms in memory of Jessica’s sister. The couple renewed their vows and celebrated with a knot-tying ceremony that closed with a kiss and a fist bump. Family and friends joined the couple for a vivacious reception including multiple photo stations, impromptu salsa dance lessons, a Pittsburgh Cookie Table filled with sweets, guest favors hand-made by the bride and groom, food catered by Vagabond Kitchen, and a glowstick grand-exit. Following a honeymoon cruise to Yucatán and Cozumel, the couple returned to their home in Wheeling and their much-adored pups Pica and Ellie.
