THE REGISTRY ER

CARISSA MICHELLE ELKINS & MASON ROBERT TYLER HICO | 5.22.21

carissa and mason’s origin story varies depending on which of them you ask . Mason says they met when he visited the residency program in South Dakota that Carissa was a part of, but Carissa doesn’t remember that. She argues that they met a few months later, on his first day of family medicine residency, sitting beside each other at his welcome lunch. Either way, it seems like this couple was destined to meet. When the time came, Mason had an elaborate proposal plan full of surprises that he ended up having to scramble to readjust when the pandemic hit. The couple’s wild and wonderful wedding weekend kicked off with a rehearsal dinner at Adventures on the Gorge followed by a pool party for guests. The ceremony took place at the Confluence Resort, overlooking the Meadow and Gauley rivers. The bride stunned in a romantic ivory ball gown embellished with rhinestones and embroidered flowers. A real flower crown of ivory and pink roses and eucalyptus allowed her veil to flow elegantly behind her as she made her way down the aisle. Carissa and Mason performed an intimate foot-washing ceremony, symbolizing humility and servitude. The reception was a fun, unique celebration of their new life together and what they each bring to it. The next day, the newlyweds joined 25 of their guests to brave the rapids on a whitewater rafting trip, sharing their love of West Virginia with people from all over the country. The couple honeymooned in Barbados, where their sense of adventure followed them into their first scuba dive together. They have since returned to their home in Sidney, Ohio, to begin their life as husband and wife.
