LAKEN LEE FLEMING & DILLON BRANT
lakenfleming began attending west virginia university just as her family moved fromWinchester, Virginia, to Bridgeport. Dillon Meadows came from Paradise, Texas, where he had decided to pitch for the Mountaineer baseball team after enduring a series of major surgeries. They met at a WVU football game and soon became kindred spirits. After a three-year courtship, Dillon decided it was time to pop the question. He pulled off a surprise proposal at AMountain Clays. As she said ‘yes,’ Laken’s mind was already spinning with plans for their big day. Her sister Autumn would be her maid of honor, she would entrust details to Poppy Planning, and she and Dillon would unite in marriage in an early-fall outdoor ceremony at Wilderness Lodge in Summersville. Terracotta was chosen for her attendants’ attire, while the groomsmen wore starched blue jeans and light gray sport coats for the big day. As he had on that first date, Dillon sported a cowboy hat. Laken was escorted by her dad to the altar wearing a whimsical tulle-lined ball gown by Allure. “Take Me Home, Country Roads” played during the recessional as guests cheered. For the reception, white lights accented round tables draped in white with matching chairs under a white tent. The couple’s first dance was to “Deeper than the Holler” by Randy Travis. A Texas-style pork barbeque dinner was served, and a dream catcher hung over the bride and groom at the head table. Guests left with cattle tag keychains inscribed with the “M” brand and bibles for fishermen. The couple lives in Dillon’s hometown on the family’s ranch. He works for United Ag and Turf, and Laken is a physician’s assistant at Urgent Care.
