ALEXIS VICTORIA BROOKE WEAVER & JASON McWHORTER WELLS BERRYVILLE, VIRGINIA | 8.14.21
alexis, a williamson native, and jason, from charleston, met through a bit of happenstance. Alexis needed an internship for her degree in interior design from West Virginia University, so she applied at a local retail furniture business that happened to be owned and operated by Jason’s family. After a couple years of dating, the couple traveled to The Greenbrier to celebrate Alexis’ mother’s birthday. After a drive up to the Summit, Jason surprised Alexis with a ring and question: “Will you marry me?” A year later, Alexis floated down a floral-lined aisle in a sleeveless V-neck gown with an embroidered lace bodice and tulle skirt to a string quartet rendition of “She Will Be Loved.” After traditional vows were exchanged and the “I do’s” were said, Jason, in a dark navy tuxedo, led his bride in their first dance as husband and wife to “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. Dinner treated guests to a buffet of marinated London broil, herb-roasted chicken, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and grilled vegetables. Dessert was a five-layer cake with lace stenciling and gold banding with accents of pink, peach, and coral. Each layer was a different flavor to cater to a wide variety of tastes: lemon, chocolate, red velvet, and strawberry. Dancing kicked off with a nine-piece band including string and brass instruments, which kept energy high with a variety of dance music all evening. The couple shared brunch with family and close friends the following day, then headed west for their honeymoon. After a weeklong road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, the newlyweds returned home to Morgantown, where Alexis works in kitchen and bath design and Jason works as business partner in his family business—a match that was simply meant to be.
