der of show business in New York. Saved at 18, she too had been greatly affected by the Cru sade and had dedicated her life to Christ. With so much in common, she and Bill happily united their lives in the new purpose of living for the glory of God. Proudly Bill took his pretty bride to Texas, where he returned to the Univer sity and completed the training he had abandoned seven years be fore, earning a Fine Arts degree. The need for Bible training led him next to Dallas Theological Seminary for a year, after which he spent another year at Multno mah School o f the Bible in Port land. Then- he and his talented Barbara turned their abilities to Christian drama. Bill composed evangelistic plays which together they produced as soul-winning programs. After their first son arrived, the young couple again returned to Texas to visit “Grandma” and to show off their offspring. There a severe test of faith awaited them. Unaccountably, Bill was stricken with serious lung fever and for some time it seemed that his service for the Lord would come to an abrupt end. Again, however, the Lord intervened and his health was restored. At the time his mother confided a little secret prayer of hers for her son, that he would become a small town pastor and would minister to ordinary people. Never in his wildest imaginings had Bill ever considered that kind of life, so re mote from the exciting existence he had always known. Neverthe less, his patient, persistent moth er insisted that she was going to continue to pray for this. He begged, “Mother, don’t pray for that!” He knew only too well that when she prayed, things usually happened! Here he was: saved, his life completely changed, hap pily married and the father of an adorable youngster; he had ac quired considerable knowledge of the Word and had become a soul- winner; he had been healed o f a
