boasts that all the restraints of God have been removed, and that prides herself in the fact that her citizens enjoy the “ pleasures of unrighteousness” unrestrained. Read that story truly, and you will read of boys and girls of as tender years as seven or eight drinking vodka, and of their becoming accomplished criminals at ten. Think of a land where between 2,000,000 and 3,000,000 little raga muffins home themselves in railway stations, asphalt-boil ers, refuse boxes, old sheds, cellars, stairways, on door steps—any place where they can lie down in some putrid puddle of humanity for the sake of warmth. Is it any wonder that one escaped from Moscow gives the world an authentic description (though vigorously denied by the Soviet Government) of some sanitary measures to which the authorities of that city were recently compelled to re sort? The police made.a street drive, singled out from 1,200 to 1,400 of “ hell’s little angels,” and having induced them by means of a good substantial meal and other favors to go to a spot in the open country, suddenly gave a word of command. Thereupon, all the soldiers galloped away, leaving the wondering little tatterdemalions grouped alone. Another word of command—and hidden machine guns be gan their hissing song of death. In a few minutes, the sol diers returned to the task of burying that hideously, hope lessly diseased mass of bleeding flesh. The government knew o f no other way to get rid of the plague! Unre strained “ pleasure in unrighteousness” is not all pleasure. And imagine, if you can, a land where a hundred thousand mothers, unable to name the fathers of their children that they may claim support from them, resort to “ naming sev eral men as the ‘co- fathers’ of their offspring” ! Need we go further? Need we describe other sorrows which must come to any land that has “ pleasure in unrighteousness” ? Trained Youth Must Meet Trained Youth •^pvEVER before was any generation of Christian youth * * face to face with more stupendous forces of iniquity than Christian young men and women face today. Never before did any youthful David stand face to face with such an enormous hulk of swaggering, bullying, cursing, Goli- athian flesh and blood as the youthful Davids of Jehovah face in this hour. The atheistic forces of the whole world are working overtime in every land, training youth for the fray. It is said that the Soviet Government plans 60,000 cinemas in Russia within the coming year, costing nearly $100,000,000, purely to spread the communistic propaganda among youth. Forty-six technicians are to be employed in making the antireligious films, in which one special feature will be the encouragement given to children to revolt against their parents. Verily, the battle is not coming! It is here! Suicidal folly will certainly be the sin of all Christian people if they do not realize here and now that, in this battle, trained youth must meet trained youth. What an ominous fact it is, that Christian men and women—aye, all men and women who are terrified by the mountainous specters aris ing on the horizon— fail to understand that there is not a particle of hope for the world on this side the sounding of the seventh trump, if they shall fail to send youth trained in the righteousness of God to meet youth trained in the iniquity of Satan! No dollar is so effective as the dollar spent right here. Let us see to it that the boys and the girls who must go to the battle shall have the best possible prep aration for the Herculean conflict which is surely at hand. Armed with His strength, they will w in ! Castled within their Rock, then shall “ one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight” (Deut. 32:30).

Christ that liveth in me.’ You see what I mean, dear? That is the only help for those, like us, who are caught in a web of their own or others’ making—just Christ in you, the hope of glory.” “ One would have to be a saint indeed—ah, here we are, at the end of the lane, and there is the car with Sonia.” “ Rosamund, tell me you understand about Rodney!” Her friend whirled about with characteristic impul siveness, and placed both hands on Eleanor’s shoulders, “ You dear, faithful friend and sister, of course I un derstand ! I should be of no use at all if I did not! Rodney shall ride Roman on Monday—no later. And the next time some one says to me in the old inveigling way, ‘Rose o’ the World, who’s your bootlegger?’ I ’m going to point him to Old Glory,” and Rosamund gestured with gay valiance toward the flag Eleanor loved, “ and say, this is not only the land of the free over which those stars and stripes float; it is also the home of the brave. Let’s be brave enough to have the courage to keep the law in spite of personal liberty and popular lawlessness.” ing. They are believing something with every drop of blood that flows through their hearts. And the men who believe are strong, even though they believe “ a lie.” These anti- christian, antitheistic hosts believe they possess the polit ical and spiritual alchemy that will meet the world’s every need and produce the Golden Age. They are energized with the “ delusion” that they, too, march to a millennium. To attain it, they are making stupendous personal sacrifices— sacrifices from which the great mass of Christians today are certainly shrinking. Consider the tremendous decline in foreign missionary offerings and the actual calling home of the ambassadors of the Christian churches, Christian givers excusing themselves on the ground of the great world-wide “ depression.” And as the churches make ex cuse, these fervent atheistic believers of “ the lie” arise in the might of tremendous sacrifice and send their ambassa dors by the tens of thousands to the ends of the earth! It does not even seem to disturb the slumbering hosts within our churches, that again the old Caesarean cry is heard along these world-encircling antichristian battle lines: “ The Christians to the lions!” It should disturb! It doesn’ t! The only other comparable specter of ill upon the world’s horizon is the specter of Fascism. While its tenets are in most respects the very antitheses of Communism, yet in other respects they are one—one in that both are really Satanically inspired religions, propagated with a fervency which would count martyrdom all sweetness, one in that they utterly oppose Christ, one in that they march forward with an almost invincible faith in “ a lie” ! Pleasure in Unrighteousness T r e m e n d o u s l y significant is the fact that this specter of Communism, casting a slimy shadow over the whole world today, fulfills to the letter the description, “ had pleasure in unrighteousness.” And here it sinks to the very bottom result of all denial of God. “ The working of error” which rejects Jesus Christ is never righteous. Em- inating from a “ man of sin,” it upsprings from a root of sin. It fondles and loves impurity, frivolity, profanity, duplicity, enmity, blasphemy, cruelty, bloodlust—the in dulgence of the flesh to the utmost degree.
