N’eût été une pénalité, tard en troisième période du cinquième match alors qu’ils menaient 2 à 1, les Hawks auraient pu passer en quart de finale. Au moment de mettre sous presse, ils faisaient face à l’élimination. Arborant leurs cheveux décolorés, les joueurs de l’équipe des Hawks ont perdu les deux dernières parties contre les Colts de Cornwall. Chaque équipe ayant trois victoires, celle qui remportera la dernière partie passera en quart de finale. -Vendredi dernier, partisans et joueurs des Hawks ont vu leur gardien Matthew Pettizian être blessé en première période. Il a fini les 20 minutes réglementaires, mais n’est pas revenu au jeu. Il a été remplacé par Peter Brooks. Vers la fin de la troisième période, Kieran Craig s’est retrouvé au banc des punitions pour obstruction au gardien de Cornwall. Les Colts en ont profité pour égaliser la marque 2 à 2. Cela a eu pour effet de dégonfler l’équipe locale et de raviver les Colts. Il a fallu se rendre à 9 min 20 s de la seconde période supplémentaire pour voir Josh Barnes gagner la partie pour les visiteurs. Lors de leur visite à Cornwall, le dimanche 25 mars, les Hawks menaient 3 à 2 après 58 minutes de jeu. Avec seulement deux minutes à faire à la rencontre, les Colts ont égalisé la marque lors d’un avantage numérique. Colin Stevens était au banc pour avoir retenu. Les Hawks ont perdu 4 à 3. Peter Brooks a remplacé Matthew Pettizian comme gardien, lors de la sixième partie, alors que ce dernier était encore blessé.

ROCKLAND NATS ELIMINATED BY CARLETON PLACE

The Rockland Nationals’ playoff run came to an end over the weekend. The first-place Carleton Place Canadians eliminated the Nats in a 4-1 series. After the first two games of the series, the Nats and the Canadians were tied 1-1. The Nats then lost the three following games. Game 3 Game 3 of the series took place on Wednesday, March 21 in Carleton Place. The Canadians regained the lead of the series with a 4-2 win over the Nats. Alex Robert opened up the scoring in the first period with a goal for the Nats, but the Canadians came out strong in the second period scoring three goals. Benjamin Pruneau put a second one in for the Nats, leaving the score at 3-2 by the end of the second. The Nats fought hard throughout the third period to try to tie the game but Zachary
Tupker sealed the win for Carleton Place with his goal in the last minute of the game. Game 4 The Nats returned to Rockland for the fourth game of the series on Thursday, March 22, but were completely shut out by the Canadians. Justin Cmunt, Samuel Knoblauch and Keenan Reynolds each scored a goal in each period of the game to give a 3-0 win to the Canadians. Nats’ goaltender Sean Storr managed to save 35 of the 38 shots that came his way, earning himself the third star of the game. On the other hand, the Nats took 22 shots on net but could not finish on any of them. Game 5 The Rockland Nats entered game 5 of the series in Carleton Place, trailing 3-1 in the series. They ended their series with a tough 7-2 loss. Shawn Kennedy opened the
scoring for the Nats within a minute of the game, but things then took a turn for the worse. Nick Pryce scored a power play goal for the Canadians to tie the game at the end of the first period. Tim Theocharidis then scored two goals for the Canadians in the second per iod – one on a powerplay. Antoine Leblanc scored the second, and last goal for the Nats halfway through the second period. Sam Allison then gave the Canadians a 4-2 lead with his goal at the end of the period. The Canadians eliminated any hope for redemption for the Nats in the third period, scoring three more goals. Zachary Tupker, Cade Townend and Justin Cmunt each scored one. The game ended with a score of 7-2 for the Canadians. The Nats were eliminated from the first round of playoffs in a five-game series 4-1.
