There are no fees associated with a film permit. BVI FILM COMMISSION REFERENCE GUIDE

The archipelago of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is renowned as being one of the most beautiful collections of isles and cays anywhere in the world. Each of the more than 60 separate landfalls nestled among the surrounding deep blue Caribbean waters has its own distinct texture and character. The BVI Film Commission was established over 25 years ago to facilitate and encourage film productions coming into this unique Caribbean country. Since then the entire country has embraced the film fraternity and warmly welcomes an increasing number of productions each year. Many such productions are repeat guests to the BVI, with crews that the native islanders have come to know personally by name. The BVI Film Commission also acts as a liaison between film/ photography producers and all relevant Government agencies, including Customs, Labour and Immigration Departments, National Parks Trust and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force. Let us help make your decision to film in the BVI an easy one. If you have questions, concerns or need to know more, simply consult this handy Reference Guide. It’s full of valuable information you can use to assist in planning your production in BVI.

IMPORTANT NOTES

If you enter the BVI without the requisite film, work and drone permits you risk having your passport and equipment seized by Immigration or Customs officials upon entry. To avoid any delays submit all the information at least 10 days before production begins. Submission of all required documents does not mean that permission will be granted.

Do not insert an individual name in place of a production company, as you will be required to provide a Trade Licence.

The Film Commission office will always try not to intrude unnecessarily or to interrupt the production, however, the BVI Film Commission and/or its representative has the authority to visit any production that has been issued a BVI Film Permit, with reasonable notice, to ensure the production is abiding by our rules/regulations and laws etc.

While we do not implement a film permit fee, a copy of your completed project, photos and/or footage is required for our archives.

Of course, if you have a question that isn’t covered here, you can always feel free to contact us.

We are happy to welcome your production to the BVI.
