EN ISO 20471:2013 HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHING
EN 13758-1:2001 TEXTILES - SOLAR UV PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES - PART 1: METHOD OF TEST FOR CLOTHING FABRICS
The EN ISO 20471 standard specifies requirements for high visibility clothing to ensure it is capable of visually signalling the user’s presence. High visibility clothing ensures the user can be seen in all light conditions and is divided into 3 performance classes depending on the requirements.
The EN 13758-1 standard specifies the requirements and test methods for clothing designed to offer ultraviolet (UV) protection. This standard ensures that the clothing fabric meets the criteria for UV protection and is capable of effectively blocking harmful UV rays, with a rating of UPF50+ (all MILWAUKEE ® EN 13758-1 certified products carry a UPF50+ rating) . This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with other relevant textile and clothing standards to ensure comprehensive protection and performance. MILWAUKEE ® products that hold the EN 13758 certification are: PVA Cooling Towel and Cooling Microfiber Towel, Skull Cap, Work T-Shirts, Warm Weather T-Shirts, Baseball Caps, Performance Caps, Red Performance Neck Gaiters.
The MILWAUKEE ® high visibility vests are intended for multiple applications and are class 2 certified.

KNEE PADS
Wearing knee protection on the jobsite is important for several reasons:
• Reduce the risk of knee injuries: Knee pads reduce the risk of knee injuries that occur from kneeling and crawling. This can help prevent long-term damage to the knees, such as joint pain, arthritis, and other knee-related conditions. • Increase comfort and productivity: Knee protection helps to reduce the discomfort and fatigue that can occur from working on hard surfaces or kneeling for long periods.
• Meet safety regulations: In many industries and job sites, knee protection is required by law or industry standards to ensure worker safety. Wearing knee protection can help ensure compliance with these regulations and prevent penalties for non-compliance.
RIS-3279-TOM (ONLY ORANGE CONTRACTOR HI-VIS VEST)
RIS-3279-TOM (formerly GO-RT 3279) is a high visibility standard specifically for the UK rail industry, unlike the broader EU-wide EN standards. Its purpose is to ensure rail workers near tracks are highly visible to approaching trains or other traffic. The standard requires compliance with color specifications in BS EN 20471 clause 5.1.2 to ensure a specific orange shade, avoiding red hues. The exact chromaticity coordinates for the fluorescent orange color are X: 0.588, Y: 0.371, with a luminance factor of at least 0.4. While the color tolerance follows EN 20471, there is no tolerance for the luminance factor.
EN 14404:2004+A1:2010 KNEE PROTECTORS FOR WORK WHEN KNEELING
EN 14404
In Europe, the most commonly recognized knee protection standard for workers on job sites is EN 14404:2004+A1:2010. This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for knee protectors used in tasks where the user is frequently kneeling. The standard covers the design, construction, performance, and marking of knee protectors, and it is applicable to all types of knee protectors used in occupational environments, including those worn over or integrated into clothing. Knee pads are tested based on their impact absorption, pressure distribution of the entire surface and protection against penetration of sharp or pointy objects. EN 14404:2004+A1:2010 is recognized throughout the European Union and is widely used by manufacturers, employers, and workers to ensure that knee protectors provide the necessary level of protection and performance for workers who kneel frequently as part of their job duties.
