Meet the Man Who Introduced Me to Real Estate HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, DAD!

If you’ve been reading these newsletters since day one, then you might remember that my journey into real estate started early. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of my time before and after school on construction sites, exploring basements that were mid-remodel and learning the ins and out of the construction business. I’ve been studying houses for 60 years, and that’s all thanks to my dad. With Father’s Day just around the corner, I thought it was about time I gave him the shoutout he deserves.

I didn’t quite inherit my dad’s handiness — I’m better suited to the business side of things — but that wasn’t for lack of trying. As soon as I was old enough, I started helping my dad with the remodels, and he kept dragging me out to construction sites all through my teen years. To be honest, I resented it back then. I can’t count the number of times I got home from football practice, showered up, and was on my way out the door to hang out with friends when my dad smacked me in the chest to stop me and said, “Son,

While I might not have inherited my dad’s handiness, I did inherit his work ethic. I put the same amount of dedication and effort into buying and selling houses now that he used to put into remodeling them. Just like him, I’m proud of my work and know that I do it well. Looking back, I have nothing but admiration for my dad. He was a talented guy and still is even though he’s 88 now and has been retired here in Naples for 20 years. I couldn’t ask for a better role model or a better grandfather for my kids. Dad, if you’re reading this, happy Father’s Day! Even though you

My father is a first-generation Italian- American. He grew up in Trenton, New Jersey, served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and is one of the handiest, hardest-working people I’ve ever known. When I was growing up, he worked as a hospital maintenance supervisor, but he still found time to remodel houses and build furniture on the side. In fact, he built all of the furniture in my childhood home. Back in those days, he was a do-anything kind of guy. He could fix anything, make anything, and build anything. When he started flipping houses, he handled the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, you name it. Helping him with those projects was my first foray into understanding real estate.

we’ve got work tonight.” The last thing I wanted to do back then was lie on my back painting ceilings or installing pipes all weekend with him and my brother, but I always did it anyway. Looking back now, those weekends working side-by-side are some of my fondest memories. It’s funny how life works like that. Even though I was always the butt of the joke (my brother, who has passed now, was mechanically inclined like my dad, so they loved to poke fun at my inability to fix things), we laughed a lot, and I learned even more. What I figured out on those long nights and weekends would become the foundation of my real estate business.

The Most Beautiful Place on Earth OUR 3 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT NAPLES

Disney may be the happiest place on Earth, but Naples is hands-down the most beautiful. Over their years buying and selling luxury real estate in the city, Kimberly and Vincent have explored everything Naples has to offer and often debate just what it is that gives it this special spark. In these last few crazy months, the topic has come up more and more. That’s because honestly, there’s nowhere else we’d rather be “stuck” social distancing during a pandemic than here! With that in mind, Kimberly and Vincent decided to share the results of their yearslong debate and reveal their three favorite things about Naples.

the pack, they just might pick the water three times! There’s nothing like living on the beach, and the Gulf Coast has some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. The gentle blue-green waves are a boater’s paradise, whether you prefer a simple kayak or a luxury yacht, and many local homes have private docks so your vessel will never be farther than a few steps from your door. 2. DIVERSE BIKING AND WALKING TRAILS Between the temperate weather and gorgeous ocean views, Naples residents spend a lot of time outdoors. Luckily, a network of excellent biking and walking trails span the city, which make it easy to explore and get a workout in. Some of our favorites are Pine Island Bike

Path, the John Yarbrough Linear Park Trail, the Boca Grande Bike Path, and the Gordon River Greenway.

3. DELICIOUS FOOD Naples is home to some of the best

Italian and French food this side of the Atlantic. Even during the pandemic, many of our favorite spots continued to offer takeout and delivery sensational enough to turn any meal into a special occasion. Our can’t-miss destinations include Osteria Tulia, The French, Truluck’s, The Continental, and Sea Salt.

For these reasons and more, there’s no better place to call home.

1. THE SEA, THE SEA, THE SEA If Kimberly and Vincent could only

pick one thing about Naples that makes it stand out from

YOUR GUIDE TO THE PERFECT VIRTUAL HAPPY HOUR It’s Time to Raise a Glass!

If you can’t see your friends in person to clink wine glasses or whiskey tumblers, never fear: A virtual happy hour can bring all of your closest pals right into your living room. The concept is simple. Using online meetup programs like Google Hangouts, Zoom, or FaceTime, you can drink with friends across the country without leaving home. If you don’t want to get out of your sweatpants but want to sip a classy cocktail, this is a win-win. But, you can also ditch the sweats and go all-out for the full virtual happy hour (VHH) experience. Here are five short steps to VHH success. 1. PICK YOUR PLATFORM. In the days leading up to your VHH, your friends need to agree on a single platform. Once you choose, make sure everyone has downloaded it and encourage your buddies to do a test run to ensure they can be seen and heard. 2. THEME IT UP. Every party is better with a theme, and VHH is no exception! Considering the decade, Roaring ‘20s is a popular choice, but you can go

with whatever floats your friend group’s boat, whether that’s Kentucky Derby or "Harry Potter" (alcoholic butterbeer, anyone?). 3. WRITE YOUR MENU. While you could just drink whatever beer or half-open bottle of wine is sitting in your respective refrigerators, where’s the fun in that? To really class up your VHH, chat with your friends about the ingredients you all have on hand and come up with a themed cocktail menu to “order” from on the big night. 4. DRESS TO THE NINES. Since you’re in the privacy of your own home, you can try out your wackiest, fanciest outfits without public judgment. If you’ve always wanted to try on a Roaring ‘20s flapper dress or a Roman toga, now is the time! Remember, if you go with the "Harry Potter" theme, your bathrobe could easily pass as a wizard’s robe in a pinch. 5. DRINK! You’ve planned perfectly, so now it’s time to enjoy each other’s company. Plus, there’s one final perk: Since you’re drinking and giggling on your own couch, you don’t need to worry about a designated driver or an Uber to get you to your bedroom. You’ve got this!

3 Ideas for the Ultimate Campout RIGHT IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD

Even though it’s almost peak camping season, you and your family might opt to cancel your out-of-town trip this summer, but don’t worry. Just because you don’t head into the mountains doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy time outdoors with a backyard campout. It might not be your favorite spot in a sprawling national park, but that doesn’t

some level of frustration, making your own tent using household items like tarps, rope, blankets, and more can be a fun project for the kiddos. It’s an opportunity to let them exercise their imaginations and build something they can relax, play, and even spend the night in. CREATE AN OUTDOOR MOVIE THEATER If you’ve been craving the big-screen experience that you thought only movie theaters could offer, you’re in luck! You can make your own big screen at your backyard campout. All you need is a large white sheet, a home projector, and some speakers. BUILD A FIREPIT No campout — backyard campouts included — is truly complete without a roaring campfire. With a gravel base and a simple stone barrier (as well as some quick and easy instructions available online), you can build the ultimate firepit for warming up on chilly nights, telling spooky ghost stories, and of course, roasting marshmallows. As a bonus, you can keep a firepit around when cooler weather rolls in too. This is far from a comprehensive list of backyard camping activities.
