SOUTH FULTON ALUMNI CHAPTER
SFAC PAINTS SANDTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL ROOM On Saturday, November 16, 2024, members of South Fulton (GA) Alumni Chapter (SFAC), met at Sandtown Middle School to paint two walls in its Faculty Wellness Center, a room dedicated for teachers and faculty to take some mental health time. Brothers Damon Peebles, Darrick Patterson, Larry Jackson, Angelo Byrd and Al Hendricks (and son) taped and painted two full walls a sky-blue color, matching the décor of the room. The school will have a ribbon cutting ceremony in January as a grand opening of the room and has invited SFAC to attend. They were very appreciative of the brothers taking time to volunteer.
SFAC VOLUNTEERS FOR THANKSGIVING MEAL GIVEAWAY On Friday, November 22, 2024, two weeks after it initially participated in the City of South Fulton Mayor Pro Tem’s Food Giveaway, South Fulton (GA) Alumni Chapter (SFAC) once again volunteered with the annual Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway, this time sponsored by District 3’s Councilwoman, Helen Zenobia Willis and supported by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The Councilwoman offered residents of South Fulton one bag of produce and one meat per family, at Welcome All Park. Like the previous event, hundreds of cars pulled up and the 10 SFAC members in attendance loaded cars with food items and wished each family a Happy Thanksgiving.
The chapter helped provide 1,500 turkeys to the residents, once again making a tremendous impact at a time of year when many people were in need. The city was grateful for SFAC’s continued commitment and support.
SFAC SUPPORTS COMMUNITY RECYCLING INITIATIVE
On National Recycle Day, Saturday, November 23, 2024, the South Fulton (GA) Alumni Chapter (SFAC), in support of several chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Zion Hill Baptist Church Planet Preservers, supported a shredding and recycle initiative in South Fulton, GA. Members of SFAC joined members of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Kappa Omega Chapter, Pi Alpha Omega Chapter, and Alpha Beta Omega Omega Chapter to collect documents and electronic recyclable items from residents and turn them in to a nearby recycling truck. Together, they helped to collect 3,000 pounds of recyclables for the community and make an impact on saving these items from landfills and polluting the Earth. The chapter remains steadfast in its mission of seeking partnerships with other organizations and
making a lasting, positive impression within the South Fulton community.
SFAC HOSTS CHARTER CELEBRATION PARTY It was a momentous occasion for the South Fulton (GA) Alumni Chapter (SFAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi, when the members celebrated the chapter's chartering at Authentic Steak and Seafood restaurant on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Family, friends and supporters packed the venue, and Brothers from other metro-area chapters also came out in numbers to welcome the new chapter.
The chapter forged a new relationship with the owner and a great time was had by all. The gathering is only the beginning for the "Renaissance NUPES," as SFAC plans to follow up with regularly scheduled social events, returning to the venue for some of them.
