ALPHARETTA-SMYRNA (GA) ALUMNI CHAPTER Fifty Year Brother Celebrates’ 96th Birthday In Kappa Land, fifty-year Brothers are held in high esteem, but when you ascend to sixty plus years in the bond, it comes with an astronomical level of respect. On the 10th of December, the Senior Kappa Committee of the Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. held its monthly meeting at a restaurant. At the meeting, the committee celebrated the 96th birthday of Brother Alvin Harrison, the oldest brother in the Chapter. Brother Harrison is a 1955 initiate of Alpha Sigma and has toiled as a sustaining brother for 68 years, and if it’s God’s will, in 2025, Brother Harrison will celebrate 69 years in the bond.

Helping Families for the Holiday Thanksgiving holiday is a time of celebration for most families. A time when families come together to eat, have fun, and give thanks. Unfortunately, some families don’t have these luxuries, as many families in America face hunger. To brighten up the Thanksgiving holiday for some families, the Brothers of the Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. held a Thanksgiving food drive led by the chapter’s Civic Action committee chair, Brother Marlon Day.

DECATUR (GA) ALUMNI CHAPTER National Good Neighbor Aaward

Dr. Christopher Johnson, Southeastern Province Historian and a member of Decatur (GA) Alumni, was awarded the National Association of Realtors 2024 Good Neighbor Award on November 9, 2024. Additionally, he was elected 2025 Vice President for Membership Services for the DeKalb Board of REALTORS® previously he served as School Board Committee Chair and Membership Committee Chairman. This prestigious award recognizes NAR members who make remarkable contributions to their communities through volunteer work, dedicating time, money, energy, and expertise to uplift others. As part of this recognition, Johnson received a $10,000 grant for his charity and was featured in the fall 2024 edition of REALTOR® Magazine. Dr. Johnson, a board member of 100 Black Men of America where he serves as the K-12 Chairman of Education. He is a doctorate education holder and uses his experience as a teacher and principal to improve educational and economic opportunities for African American youth. As a mentor, he teaches financial literacy and leadership skills and organizes enriching trips to broaden children's horizons.
