3 Read this story. What is the capital city and the discovery in the story?

Anna had waited for this special weekend for a very long time. She had always wanted to visit London, but had never had the chance to visit the capital before. She used to dream of seeing all the typical places that always appeared on TV and in films. This weekend was Anna’s birthday. When her parents had asked her what she wanted as a present, she knew immediately what to ask for – a trip to London! The train journey from Anna’s home in York to London was just over two hours. While they were travelling, Anna’s dad told her a story about the station they were going to arrive at. It was called King’s Cross. Anna’s dad was interested in history and he knew a fascinating story about the station. He told her about a legend that said that a famous queen called Boudica might have fought her last battle against the Romans in exactly the same place. There was even a story that Boudica’s body may have been right under Platform 10! Anna and her dad decided the first thing they were going to do in London was to take a look at the mysterious platform. As soon as the train arrived at the station, Anna and her family went to look for Platform 10. At first, they were disappointed as there was nothing very special about it. But then, around the corner, they made an amazing discovery. It was Platform 9 and three quarters, the famous platform where Harry Potter always caught the train to Hogwarts. Anna had a great photo taken there and afterwards her parents bought her a small present in the Harry Potter shop near the platform. What a great start to the weekend!

Decide with your partner which photo each of you is going to choose. Individually, spend three minutes preparing to talk about your photo. Say where you think it is and what you think is happening. How do you think the people in the photo are feeling?
