There’s a perfect process for every project, but knowing the difference is key. And whichever dyeing technique you choose, each item undergoes our signature 50-wash process, ensuring soft comfort and almost no shrinkage.
Known for their vivid colours, vibrant hues and long-lasting colour-fastness, direct/reactive garments react to the dye which absorbs into the yarn, allowing them to maintain their traditional dyed appearance for the life of the style. And beyond colour reliability, direct/reactive garments maintain their shape and same great softness wash after wash. DIRECT/REACTIVE COLOURS
PIGMENT DYES
Comfort Colors ® is the original pigment-dye company, mastering and innovating the process for over 45 years. No technique better captures the awe-inspiring colours of nature, from its weathered tones to its striking shades. In this process, dye molecules bind to the fabric and then are washed multiple times, creating a garment that’s soft from the moment you first put it on, only growing more so every time you wear it.
PIGMENT SPRAY
A fresh take on the classic pigment dyeing process, Color Blast dyed garments are sprayed with dye rather than immersed in a dye bath. The result is a wide variety of colour concentration and texture. No two Color Blast garments are exactly the same, meaning each one is as unique as the person who wears it.

What is Clean Pigment Dye (CPD)?
Over the years Comfort Colors® has mastered the art of making garments feel and look the way you love. Through this, we have developed our Clean Pigment Dyeing (CPD) process, which is a unique, more sustainable dyeing method compared to the conventional reactive dyeing process. When compared to the traditional pigment dyed method, CPD uses:
