the customer, for a special reason wishes to have the steam pipes in the ground removed, HOFOR will do this also free of charge, but only by appointment. Key figures Termination of a steam supply system in the same magnitude as in Copenhagen has never been done anywhere else prior to this project. A large planning work is therefore done to ensure safe and reliable heat supply to both the new district heating customers as well as the remaining steam customers during the entire conversion project all the way to 2021.

The last 5 years of DK21 In the next 2 years of the project, focus is on finishing the main supply skeleton of district heating for the center of Copenhagen, by establishing several kilometers of main pipelines throughout the city. When this is done, all customers in the center of Copenhagen will have a reliable heat supply. And therefore focus will be on conversion of the remaining steam customers as fast as possible over the last 3 years of the DK21 project. Figure 2 shows the conversion plan for the years from 2014-2021.

Smart heat metering is the key to unlocking the full value of data The more data you have, the more value you can create
The wealth of data generated by smart meters has a number of uses that add value to energy metering – and as demands for higher energy efficiency and the integration of renewables increase, so does the value of frequent meter data. From revenue protection and improved customer service to network optimisation and shaping peak demands, smart metering provides the necessary transparency for heating utilities to make informed decisions in their day-to-day operations today and in the future.
