Energy projects will represent a significant investment focus for the fund, especially with the new climate change agreements taken into consideration. In parallel with and as a consequence of higher activity level in the energy sector, IFU expects an increasing demand of Danish technology in developing countries and emerging markets: “We have a specialized team working exclusively with climate-related investment and advisory projects, which was made possible with the establishment of The Danish Climate Investment Fund. In the coming years, it is expected that between 20-25% of our investment allocation will be concentrated in the energy sector”, Torben Huss explains. The Danish Climate Investment Fund has to date contributed to the reductions of greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of 13 investment projects.
The programme sets up the right conditions for risk sharing in project development with Danish companies: “IFU has created this programme in order to address a request from the Danish business community. By sharing the risk linked to the development of investment projects and with a preliminary budget of DKK 50 million, we foresee a rise in the development and implementation of climate investments projects in the near future”, says Torben Huss, Executive Vice President at IFU.
