By His death, He has separated us from sin as to its penalty, its service, its defilement, its enfeebling conse quences; and so, in His life, His indwell ing life, He sets us free from its law, so that its tyranny and strainrare gone. It is not to the death alone, but to the life of Christ—His risen life—that we are di rected.— E van H . H opkins ; Praise God fo r the fact o f the indwell ing Christ. Pray that you may "walk worthy o f the Lord unto all well pleas ing.” MARCH 31 Housecleaning “It is the Lord’s passover” (Ex. 12:11). Every day let me keep my passover :to the Lord. . . , Let me begin by putting away the leaven of malice and wickedness from the house of my heart. I ought to pronounce over it his curse, “Annulling it, scattering it, counting it the dust o f the earth.” And let me eat the bitter herbs of penitence and godly -sorrow for my past foolishness :and .eviL There is too much reason why I should blush to lift up my face to the Great White Throne.' But let me rejoice that the ruddy life-blood of Jesus Christ, the Pascal Lamb, without blemish and without spot, has been shed for the fu ll. and free and present and abiding remission of all my sin. Behind it, and behind Him, there is safe shelter ana unassailable security. —A lexander S mellie . Praise God for an understanding o f the efficacy o f the. blood o f Calvary. t .. Should such a dilemma arise, W E FOL LOW CHR IST .” That is about the choicest utterance that ever came forth from that particular camp. Children o f God, we are now dwelling in a foreign land, pilgrims and strangers, going home. ’[While jour neying here, we should ever remember that the powers that be are ordained of God” (Rom . 13:1 ). Let us peace fully obey the mandates o f those who rule over us, Stalins or Hitlers though they be, until their commands run coun ter to the commands o f our God. Then, if that dread mo ment comes, we have but one choice: “ W e must obey God rather than men” (Acts 5 :29, R .V .) ! But this much is cer tain: These spirits are even now prowling over all the earth. Soon, at the head o f all anti-Christ forces, will appear on earth “ that man o f sin . . . the son o f perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple o f God, showing himself that he is God” (2 Thess. 2 :3, 4 ).
