PATIENT SUCCESS SPOTLIGHTS
“I had a sciatic nerve problem in my left leg, weak lower back, and especially weak legs. I could not walk any distance and from anxiety of falling I would become short of breath. At that time, I even used my walker to pervent falls. After several weeks of therapy, stretching and traction at Avenues and with the help of Kelsey and Jeremy I am able to walk half a mile without my walker and I don’t get short of breath. Now I always ride my stationary bike 2 miles a day and do my therapy exercise. I can do my housework with much less pain and problems. They knew instantly what needed to be done and started my therapy. If you have a problem of pain, I recommend calling Avenues Physical Therapy and discuss the problemwith them to find a plan to resolve the situation. I also highly recommend massages from Donna as she does a wonderful job. This also really helped any soreness that I had bothering me. Thank you for helping me with my pain” —Dorene E. “From fears of falling to walking half a mile!”
“Not in constant pain and I’m doing well!” “Before I had therapy, I had a hard time with grabbing things, my arms would hurt. After physical therapy, my arms feel better and no more constant pain in them and I am doing well. I like the different staff; they all have been so helpful to me. With them I used the arm bike, weights, small balls, and the gripper. Everything they showed me has helped, I hope the pain does not come back as before and if it does the exercises that I have at home will help.” — Reiko Y.

Kelsey’s kids picking homegrown pumpkins!
Raking leaves and gardening is one of the best things you can do for your body. First, it is a great way to get outside. Fall may be our last chance to get the vitamin D boost as the days get shorter. Gardening is also good for your heart health, all the raking, digging and weeding burns calories and helps strengthen your heart. The best thing about gardening is being able to harvest what you have worked all summer long for, fresh vegetables and fruit. We all know that fresh is better and what is better than fresh from your own backyard! (Kelsey expects to get 30 plus cups of pumpkin puree for soup, pancakes, bread, and some pie out of his harvest this year!)
