Note on the scores: With a nod to dancer Anna Halprin’s scoring work, especially her score for ‘Landscape Event’, the mappings use notation to organise the varied temporalities I encountered on my walk. In order to communicate the rhythmic quality of the seashore, the natural curve of the shoreline has been flattened and laid out horizontally on a five- line staff. Grey slits represent areas of cutting into, pulling apart and distorting the landscape. The coastal edge, or the boundary between land and sea as perceived while walking, stretches uninterrupted across the third line of the staff.
