Writing bank Modifying normal and extreme adjectives We use adverbs to modify adjectives, to make them stronger or softer in order to give more accurate descriptions. For example, we use: very , extremely and really to make ‘normal’ adjectives (e.g. impressive, good, busy, lively ) stronger.
