Welcome to Lotterywest Films
We live in a time of continuous content. And that’s what makes film festivals so important right now. Film festivals celebrate independent voices and the stories being told outside the commercial sphere. Drawing curious audiences, they help us look outward – to experience the lives of others across languages, environments, time and perspectives. Bold and ambitious cinema sits next to audience favourites, while we sit next to friends or strangers in the hushed quiet of a shared space. Perth Festival’s Lotterywest Films 2026 is no different. It invites you to discover the world through film. Cinema is a democratic art by design. We watch these stories together and, in turn, these stories connect us to a global world and global conversations. We join the collective of audiences who come before and after. Love, community, the natural world, rebellion and resilience are some of the many themes to discover, contemplate, delight in or debate across this program. Fuel a weekly Somerville habit or revel in multiple award-winning and boundary- pushing cinematic marvels through our February mini festival that celebrates the scope and imagination of the world’s dynamic screen culture. All within the sanctuary of Somerville, Perth’s trailblazing space for independent cinema. Madeline Bates Perth Festival Film and XR Curator
